I can't remember the last time we didn't have at least one dominant pitcher. We literally got zero.

Yes I do but seems like 75% of them have not improved at all since the beginning of the year. Like not in the least bit

This pitching staff is in shambles... not a single pitcher can be reled on to pitch strikes and get outs... granted, the infield defense is pretty porous, but too many walks and hbp doesn't help

I’ll always love Ma’Khail Hilliard, but if he’s starting for you on fridays in conference play, you aren’t in the best shape as a pitching staff.

Schmidt and Evans, even with his struggles at times, are better than anyone we had in 22. Some of you need to let some logic override your feelings.

You aren’t going to see Cowan, Fontenot, Sheerin or Guidry throw midweek. The best you will get are guys like Theo, Garcia, Lach and Ricken. 3 of those 4 were good tonight, but Jay isn’t extending them so they can pitch some innings we need over the weekend, especially down a starter right now.

We need some other guys to step and that hasn’t happened. The middle to back of the bullpen is either wildly inconsistent or bad and that’s what hurts us in these midweek games when we don’t get up big.

That we managed to go 17-13 in the SEC with Hilliard, Money, and Dutton starting on the weekend is kind of amazing if you really think about it. I guess Floyd started at times too, but he wasn't the 2023 version of himself or anywhere close to it

The bullpen that year was pretty decent. But we definitely had some good bats.

this cannot be overstated. Being down a weekend starter means guys who may otherwise throw more on Tuesdays simply cannot because we're going to need even more bullpen arms to get through most weekend series until Moore gets healthy, if he even does at all this year

Cooper Williams needs to get it together. He was much more effective last year.

True. Seems like we had better offense that year, which distorts how the pitching is perceived this year.

Wasn’t 22 the year we got run out of the southern miss regional in 2 games?

The pressor afterward was as pissed as I’ve ever seen JJ. Reporter asked him point-blank what was the biggest difference between LSU and southern miss. JJ said “elite pitching“.

No. Southern Miss had to beat us twice in the regional title game to advance. We started 2-0 in that regional, We had a massive comeback against Kennesaw St in game 1 and the beat Southern Miss in game 2. Then they beat us in 2 close games to advance

Well yeah. We had Morgan (AA), Crews (SEC POY), Jacob berry (AA), Cade Doughty, Dugas, Jobert, etc. We had a lot of good bats in that lineup, but pitching was a patchwork deal. Mainieri left us with basically no starting pitching

No. They lost games 6 and 7 to USM after between the 3 seed and then USM.

Both years LSU didn’t host they were 1 game away from Supers.
