I think AB did all right with that non-American original Bavarian recipe with which they brewed Bud. As a stockholder I am fine with the sale, should have done something 3-years ago if AB didn't want to get to this point. Although it is positioned as a premium beer Bud is/was losing to craft brews and imports, and in a tough economy I could see Bud drinkers trending to cheaper, lower margin AB offerings. Who wouldn't want to pick up a premium on what was a flat stock, especially in this frickin market?

I like heavier craft beers like ESB, Stout, etc. The Wild Blue AB recently came out with is......way too syrup-like and sweet.

AB was a publicly traded company. Not privately owned any longer and hasn't been for a number of years. So to call AB a landmark American company is not really right.

If AB didn't want to end up owned by the Japs or Europeans, then they shouldn't have gone public. Going public means you can get bought without you really wanting to be bought because the shareholders control the board.

100% disagree!! This was a short-sighted move that hurts American businesses. It made the stock-holders some quick money, but opens the flood gates for Europe to buy huge landmark American companies.

AB is a publicly traded company and it is the fiduciary duty of their management to maximize shareholder value.

It's a sad day for America! It goes to show you we're all about a buck. Sell your heart for a few extra dollars. I hope your grandkids can live on what you leave them.

I think the sad part is that people are talking as if Bud Light were one of our national treasures.

Budweiser and Bud Light are both awful tasting beers that I avoid at all cost.

No, but it is an American Icon, just like Coke, McDonald's, Ketchup, Tabasco, Ford, etc

Personally I'm sad because I love Budweiser, it's the only beer I drink. Meaning, if I go into a restaurant or bar and they don't serve Budweiser, I walk out and go somewhere else. Nonetheless, I don't expect any company to throw money away just so someone can wave a red white and blue flag. I'm disappointed, but I certainly don't blame them.
