45000 is better to live off of. 38000 is difficult workout a roommate or working spouse.

As long as the teachers union exists, excellent teachers won't ever be properly compensated and poor teachers will always remain overcompensated/employed.

Bankers (educated) and oilfield workers (uneducated) make incredible salaries because of the lack of unions. The solution is not more money, it is free markets.

She just got this one a little over a year ago.. She made less than that before. Not all job markets net you big money. She winds up working for small companies that cant afford to pay her a lot. Im just glad my job pays me well.

Thats what teachers make

Teachers in their first year at the big 4 schools districts:

In NWA- Springdale with only BSE-$45,500 with Masters- $49,000.

Bentonville- BSE- $45,000, $47,000 with masters.

Rogers- $43,500 BSE

Fayetteville pays the least of the "big four." They start around $41,000.

For the cost of living, it's one of the highest paying areas in the country for education. It's highly competitive to get in for sure.

Just now this because my dad is an administrator. Lot more of a headache and work about 45 days more a year. You do make 100k plus in those positions however.

Assistant principals in the area start at around 80k.

We just hired a secretary for $45, 000 a year. She can do much better than what she is doing.

Yes. We are doing it at the moment. About the only thing we're missing out on is eating out. Of course it helps our vehicles are paid off. Also, we live within our means - 100k mortgage.

all new lesson plans to meet those new standards. A lot of this is done over the summer when the teacher is not at school.

Nope.

Actually yes. My wife is a high school science teacher/volleyball coach. Their classes are moved around yearly - thus they have to submit lesson plans before the school year starts. She also has to attend three 1 week training classes for AP along with summer volleyball workouts. The summers are used for school duties - maybe not full time, but definitely clock-able.

E&P?

I've not known a single one. Maybe they just never talk about it, but I doubt it.

If there is a union it has zero power, based on the way they bounce around and get fired.
