Nice! I might have a project up your direction soon...and by direction I mean somewhere in the Northeast I think it might be in Delaware if it works out...

I'm moving to Dallas. Same job, fresh location.

Would that be smoking inside strangers' condos, surfing on unmarked cabs, or other?

It seems a few of you have NYC banking jobs. I'm curious: how does one come to land those jobs? I'm sure you all had contacts, but were grades a big factor? It's been a dream/ultimate goal to get there and it seems like each day passing it won't happen. I'm stuck in compliance at a regional bank in AL. I've been looking into the CFA, but I would really like to have related experience before I commit to it.

I was talking about street surfing on gypsy cabs.

I forgot about burning down camels in a $2MM condo.

Man.

ETA: sorry I couldn't get your money back from that guy. It wasn't for lack of effort.

Don't make it up to NYC to terribly often, but if any of ya'll come down to Nashville, let me know. What we are short of in hookers we more than make up for in bachelorette parties...which when you really think about it, are pretty close to hookers.

Nice man, congrats. We're actually opening an office there soon and I'm hoping that's my next destination. Feel free to come chill in NY one weekend if you get too bored in Delaware.

I'll come reply to this in a couple days post-CFA For me it was more about hustling during my job search and probably getting a little lucky. I'm also not in banking.

I would've paid much more if I knew I was going to get to tell a story like that one for the rest of my life. I'm getting the feeling I'm going to meet this Chris Farley character soon. He's probably real creeped out about meow.

I don't mean this to be rude, but you're not going to go directly from your current job to your dream NYC job. Find more achievable goals to help lay the path to get there. Lots of things will help, transitioning to a front-office banking role, CFA, MBA, etc. The most likely way you can get there is from the highest ranked full-time MBA program you can get into. Of course, the things I mentioned will improve your MBA candidacy.

In banking, in Houston not NYC.

Not rude at all. I've been researching what it takes and its pretty much the same thing you've said. I really wanted a position that gives you some experience though like a junior financial analyst or investment banking analyst. Having that type of job while pursuing a CFA would be my preference. I just was curious about people's different paths.

Appreciate the offer. May take you up on it even if i don't end up in Delaware

I was wondering when you might be headed back down South. You and the gal still together? Is your brother engaged yet? Seems like that pressure cooker is heating up...
