Financial Planner / Advisor Recommendations

Does anyone have a recommendation for a financial advisor? I am in the Baton Rouge area.
We are currently looking for one. I went on Dave Ramsey's site, and he has a few recommendations but if anyone has a personal recommendation I would appreciate it.
The couple I spoke to charge 1% annually. Is the 1% normal? Do you get more benefit by using a financial planner, is it worth the 1%?

Not particularly sure I’d use any of the Ramsey certified guys as I’ve never personally met one that I think is good. That’s anecdotal obviously, but still something to note.
If you don’t want to pay for asset management along with the planning, you can find pay for plan advisors. It would likely cost $3,000 at a minimum and then it’s up to you to execute the plan.
I’m an advisor so I think advisors can be worthwhile, but we’re primarily for the people that either don’t want to do it on their own or cannot consistently make good decisions with their investments (I’m talking about disciplined decisions).
If you want a good place to start to determine value, Vanguard has their Advisor Alpha study you can read Here.
It does a good job highlighting what’s worth it and what’s trivial, and you can interview advisors accordingly.
Lastly, I’d ask your peers for recommendations over this board. Also, don’t be afraid to interview multiple FAs - it needs to be a good fit for all of you.

Good advisors can save you far more than 1% in tax strategy alone.

Not sure if serious.
Investment allocation is essentially free and provides no value. If you’re going to an FA and the only thing you want to know is what to buy, you're going to be grossly overpaying.

A few years before I retired, I vetted many FAs in the BR area. It was a long process because I had to 'understand' their plan fully. The outfits with insurance products (annuities, borrowing against life insurance) were the hardest to understand (and products I don't think are good investments now).
Two FA stuck with me over the years, checking in on me 3 to 4 times a year. When it was time for me to retire, one stood out among the others. I understood the plan, and I think, for me, it was the best move for income throughout my retirement. Don't be scared to look stupid. Ask questions and don't stop until you fully understand anyone's plan. I went with Adam McConnell LINK One main reason I chose this group was because of recommendations from people who have been with them 10+ years. One before 2008.
Retirement is different for everyone. Get a FA who meets your needs.

One thing I would recommend is find people who actually have some financial sense and still recommend the FA. This type of post comes up in our neighborhood FB group frequently and the same names are always being pushed...yet, no idea if they even know or understand the services being provided to them.

I live in BR but my FA isn’t here. Technology makes it work fine.
