small business owner having to get insurance thru the marketplace for myself and family. renewed pretty much same blue cross plan as 2025 except for now its accepted as an HSA plan. called blue cross and the nice lady is saying i have to use "health equity" as the company that would give me a HSA. never heard of them. is this true?
or can I just use fidelity for my HSA which is where all our retirement and investment accounts are already there and we have a relationship with them.
I dont want to unnecessarily set up and use another company b/c blue cross gets a kickback for me signing up with them.
have never had an HSA so im ignorant on the subject other than tax wise it benefits us.

Health Equity is a pretty big player in the HSA market.
I’m using this same plan myself.
Basically; the way they operate is once you enroll you set a balance that you’d like to have available for healthcare needs. You’ll be issued a debit card to use those funds for copays, meds, etc.
Once you reach that balance through payroll contributions you can then invest the remainder.
I’m not sure if there’s numerous options. They (Health Equity) have relationships with Schwab through my wife’s employer who we funnel the excess funds to.

Same. Can also invest your HSA in health equity through mutual funds which I do, also can open an account through Schwab for individual stocks

You don’t have to use health equity. You can use any number of institutions who offer an HSA. Some have better investment options than others.

I have an individual HSA through Health Equity, but just this week I was reading that Fidelity is ranked as the best for HSA accounts. Tomorrow I am going to open an HSA with Fidelity, make my yearly contribution, and then move the funds over from Health Equity.
The PROs for Fidelity are no account fees and it appears that I can invest in a broader range of funds.

Mine is through HSABank.com, I'm very happy.

Former company used HealthEquity with BCBS. Employee standpoint, their app was very easy to use and getting reimbursed for expenses was pretty simple and straightforward. No idea how they are compared to others, but I had no real issues ever with using them, though I tried to never use any of it if possible, so my interactions were limited.

If already with Schwab it’s super easy. You open a HSBA at Schwab thru the health equity platform and they are automatically linked. Can then transfer funds to the Schwab account. On health equity site, go to investing then self directed and the Schwab option appears
