Seems like the milennials i work with are all in on these. They were talking about an insurance scam where cars will slam on their brakes in front of you. You hit them and are automatically at fault and responsible for their “injuries”. These dashcams are apparently a good safeguard to record the actual event

Would imagine most are buying cheap Chinese crap on Amazon. Can't imagine much margin on something simple like that.

Imagine most use a Sony camera sensor in there since that's the defacto standard.. But they sell so many due to cellphones they are very inexpensive and the dash cam market would be dwarfed in volume compared to cell phones

Recent tech board post

Definitely get one. The rate of uninsured drivers and hit and runs are rising. It's also easier now than ever to get the max (25-50k) out-of-court settlement from insurance so I imagine fraud is on the rise.

Rexing. Amazon carries them. Have multiple ones for many years. No issues.

Big mistake if you don’t have them in all vehicles. Front and rear view.

Are these a liability if you tend to drive fast?

Also what do you do if you are at fault? Take them down and deny having one?

You own up to it and report it truthfully. Even if you are at fault, it may still help you though. Louisiana is a comp.negligence state, meaning you can be found anywhere from 0 to 100% at fault, and anything in between.

Do they record your phone conversations in the cab? Is there a loss of privacy? For example if i get one for my wife.. do i need to watch what i say when driving her car
