If a secretary is a guy, he's an assistant.

Take this for what its worth.....

I was talking with a recruiter with Hewlett Packard a year or two ago. I told her that I have a Masters degree in Finance and she told me with a Masters degree I didnt have to start at Financial Analyst I, but could rather start at possibly a Financial Analyst III. Maybe this is just the way that HP does it, but this would be for a recent graduate with a MFIN just coming out of school.

Like I said...take it for what its worth.

Thanks, that would actually make a lot more sense. That's about the pay range that I would hope for, so even the lower ends of that, I would be happy.

Here's something mind blowing

1.44% of financial analyst III's have only an associates degree and .67% have only a high school degree.

I'm either completely impressed with that 2%, or incredibly terrified. These have to be screw up family members that are just being put on the payroll by successful uncles and parents, right?

If I go to work and have an office next to someone with a degree from ITT tech, I might just have to jump out of the window.

I'd almost rather be an entry level analyst for a few years then start as a mid-level analyst. The tips and tricks you learn by building out models and historicals is critical to future success.

Thanks for the input. This isn't about the work I will actually be doing or the title of the job, it's more of a question of salary. If I can be in the upper echelon of payment for analyst I's, I'm also okay with that.

I must admit, I'm a little curious as to how a poster starts his TD.com career by posting on the MT.

Long time lurker?

Speaking of, did you see my question earlier? Presuming you're through all the material, how much do you think L2 has added to your abilities?

Not a big fan of gold. On the other hand, I'm long World War II era Federal Reserve bonds.

Since I don't know what you are talking about, no.

Not quite, but well over half way. This stuff is time consuming.

I've definitely learned a lot of things I had never seen before. Knowing these will definitely help me get my foot in the door at big time places, but it's hard to say how much it added to my abilities considering I never really use my abilities. Overall, it's been a much more enriching experience than level 1.

Academia and theory is my strong point as is. I need real, hands on experience, the only time I got that was for my research project over the winter. I learned so much from that project, it made me feel kind of stupid for being in school.

BTW, how much statistics carries through to L2? L1 pretty much covered all of the stuff I remember about statistics, and I HATE it (doing that review now).
