Keep this in mind when viewing ESG scores for companies going forward

Also, are we supposed to believe a cryptocurrency company has NO impact on the environment? Do they compute and program with rocks and sticks? Are crypto ledgers made from dirt?

People actually look at ESG?
I didn’t know this was actually a thing, I’d heard it being mentioned but it’s like a real thing people care about now?

The fed is about to require scope 1,2 and possibly 3 carbon reporting in corporate filings.
Rating agencies are already starting to ask for preliminary scores from public and private companies.

I was looking at holdings of mutual funds on Morningstar this afternoon and ESG was higher on the page than what the fund is allocated to. My mining companies score A+ if you need to know how serious it is

It does seem like the ultimate backup everything power move for billionaires and governments to exercise influence without really being transparent about wtf they are up to

Yeah, government regulators. It’s a way to regulate without passing any new laws. And the mega funds like blackrock use it to determine who they will invest in too as a way to control boardrooms.

They already are. There are anti-ESG ETFs you can invest in. $YALL and $DRLL are two that I know of

i was on the deacon board with a President of a pretty large regional bank. former deacons get together every month and have breakfast and pray. some of the other guys were getting into politics and i didn't want to engage in it, and neither did he so we had an aside and i asked if any of the bigger banks have started pushing ESG stuff on him, just to change the subject from railing on Biden.
he was taken a bit aback and asked how i even knew about that sort of thing. "i just pay attention to things, so i know it's out there and and why everybody got so woke all of the sudden."
he said he's had numerous other banks come and inquire about acquiring his bank, and while he's not interested, they started entering into ESG and diversity stuff on the onset. he'll entertain the conversation, but he can tell early on if they're coming in to push that crap or if they're an ESG backed company.
it's horribly widespread at this point.

I would agree but corporate America is all in on this and is not turning back. If $5 gasoline wouldn't make them reverse course, nothing will. It is all a load of nonsense that will do nothing but increase the cost of goods to the consumer. Nebulous ESG "scores" are rife for corruption and grift and lobbyists making fortunes.

SO literally burns coal for a living.
