sometimes it helps to visualize everything, so ive just been recommending youtube videos to most people about how to use the exchange platform

if youre using binance, id recommend buying the BNB coin to save on fees (if you are buying/selling).

Transferred 0.4 LTC from Coinbase > GDAX > Binance for the first time.

Result was 0.35 LTC available...seems high, no? Is that just how it is?

Is that about $14 or so?

That's pretty standard on CB I think, not sure about GDax. From what this board and reading says, it seems like going ETH>Gdax>Binance is the cheapest/quickest route.

Got it...I'll be sure to use ETH next time then.

I assume you get hit with fees on both sides of each transfer, but only CB makes it clear what they are. Going from CB to Binance directly should have fees from CB of less than a dollar (for ETH and LTC). I'm not able to figure out what Binance charges for that same transfer on their end.

FYI, you can skip the GDAX middleman for LTC and ETH. CB fees for those are minimal.

Now that Im in some alt coins Im wondering how to keep track of the current prices just to keep an eye on it. Coinbase is pretty clean looking unlike Binance. Are any of you using any certain apps or sites where you can create portfolios to track real time prices of alt coins that you like?

Probably need to play around with it more then. I saw it was the most popular one on the app store but wasnt able to figure out how to just put all the coins I wanted to keep an eye on in one screen.

Maybe they changed it, but it's super easy now. Edit and delete coins on the front page. Search the coin you want on the front page and hit the little star in the top right.

Highly recommend coin stats app keeps your entire portfolio up to date at exact time for prices of all your holdings and shows if your in the green or red for all your holdings with the exact price how much.

so for those following stocks related to cryptocurrency. let's talk proof of work vs proof of stake. it appears to me that the currencies are overwhelmingly proof of work right now.

however with several proof of stake models emerging (especially etherium) do we think this is the new trend and way of future or just sizzle?

I think proof of stske is better than proof of work but maybe a stepping stone to something else. so I'm hesitant to invest more in my gpu stock plays as the model shifts away from proof of work I think they'll have inventory and revenue problems as demand will drop drastically. AI Stuff still gets demand there so they'll be fine but they're way overvalued if proof of work goes away.

Got another question

I bought several alts over the last week through binance. Under my trade history, it shows when I bought and the price. Since I bought it with ETH, the price is shown as units of ETH. Any way I can see what I bought these alts at in US$?

Vitalik Buterin created Ethereum in such a way that it is no longer profitable to mine after around 102 million coins.

yes but it's also planned to deliver and update where it moves to a proof of stake model instead. where you can essentially lock down your etherium in exchange for a return amount. that design was to force an ice age move to proof of stake if I'm not mistaken

sounds like either way graphics cards will soon be discounted. especially if companies expect continue widespread use for mining cryptocurrencies.

sure just look up historical prices at that time or input transactions into blockfolio app I believe it does a dollar conversion for you in the UI.

but that's not really a fair conversion as if those stagnate or go down and wth goes up you get a calc with full opportunity cost.
