From talking to friends in O&G close to 60 would be low for 3+ years of experience.
I'm in civil consulting and i got a 3% raise which is more than inflation so I am happy.
The PE is where I will get a big bump.
Although, recently a friend a year out of school got a offer the same as my current pay, but he would have been putting down asphalt in New Orleans.

3.72% raise at the new year. Wasn't expecting anything seeing as I've been with my company for 8 months. Graduated last August and my biggest raise was when I changed companies. Salary bumped 12%. 60k. 2.5 years out from the PE.

Kerndog what industry area are you in?
O&G - work for a consulting firm.
Greatest bump I received was by going out and getting an offer from another company and having my current employer match it. Worst case scenario was that they say no and I move to the new company for a 20% bump.

Mine, fwiw was 5%.
The local area is heating up again and there will be a shortage of qualified engineers in the entire Houston to NOLA region.
I'm going to hold out until the summer before I start answering those calls I've been receiving from other firms in the area.

100% agree.
3 years experience and I am well over this number.
Please note that I don't focus on CE 100% - that is my degree. Money is in the PM channels.

In another thread you said you sold skin cream and made as much as your engineering job.
Sounds like you need a new engineering job

Only 6.1% raise when we were told to expect 6-8%. And 0% bonus when we were told to expect 1.5-3% bonus.
We are very underpaid in my industry as a whole in the first 5 years, so I expect I won't be satisfied with the raises I get for a while...

I haven't had a merit increase in 6 years. A couple of time we have gotten 3% COLA. No word about this year.
And the products I managed grew 50% in revenue last year and I'm working 60+ hours a week. Doesn't seem to matter though.

I would start looking for your next opportunity. Just for reference the average starting salary for a firm in BR was about 52 this year. Many of my colleagues and I were able to land jobs with larger companies making between 62 and 68 right out of school. So for someone with a few years of experience, I would expect something higher than in the 70's

3.5 years in OnG and I've gotten 75% increase from my base salary. That does not include the bonuses and stock incentives I'm now eligible for. I should more than double with that. I don't touch engineering at all. It's all operations now, and it's definitely more stress. But the moneys there if you have the degree and you want to work for it.

I didn't get a significant raise, but my employer pays 100% of my health, dental, and vision premiums and gives me a 100k life insurance policy. The cost of that insurance obviously increases quarterly, so employees' raises are almost non-existent the last few years. I have a problem with that somewhat, but I did get 20 weeks of salary as a bonus at year's end. That bonus is dependent on profitability of the company, so it fluctuates yearly.

I got a mediocre raise to go with my mediocre performance. But I won't complain, I worked in baton rouge's former Fortune 500 headquarters where they cut out raises for anyone who wasn't an executive while I was working there.

:raises hand:
6.5% and was none too happy.

Who else got a crappy raise this year?
Raises hand.
My company, no matter the economy, only gives 2 % maximum raise.
Wife received 10 % raise. Said her "performance" was remarkable this year.

A Raise? Why would you get a raise just because of a new year?
Standard in most engineering companies.
I got 4.5% which was solid.

Inflation alone averages 1-2% per year
Double that. At the least.
Raises shouldn't be automatic. Why should employees get raises if tax burdens, healthcare cost and other expenses are going up on the employer? People need to realize that if the business doesn't make more money, they won't either.
