They’ll go to 16 which is the same number of rounds we have just with no byes.
My proposal is only undefeated teams host a game 1st round. Reward undefeated seasons and bring back some meaning to the regular season. There would be an indeterminate number of oncampus games each year, reasonably about 0-3 neutrals on standby each year but they could do it

The NCAA is truly run by retards & should be dissolved.
While your statement may be true it doesn't apply here.
This isn't a NCAA event or championship. This is Dr Pepper sponsored Championship. Seriously its media/Conference driven event that the NCAA allows its members to participate in. Its a money grab which is why it will keep expanding until you get to 32 teams.
The decisions aren't based on logic for competition they are based on what generates more revenue. See previous comment about 32 teams. I believe that's where we are headed and will lose the Army/Navy game as we know it today and eventually the CCGs.

I absolutely agree with the no committee part, just use the AP poll or something like that, don’t try to manufacture storylines or matchups, just straight seed the teams by their ranking.
Frick the BS weekly rankings shows. They’re just a manufactured TV product. Absolutely no need for them other than to generate more ratings/ad revenue.
I think what most people are missing about Notre Dame’s big gripe this year, the first committee rankings this year, in early November, both ND and Miami had two losses, ND was 10 and Miami, fresh off a loss to unranked SMU, was 18. The AP poll had the exact same thing. Miami then proceeded to jump 8 spots over the next month, while ND fell a spot behind Miami, despite the fact that ND rolled through November playing their best ball of the season, despite the fact that the AP had ND higher on selection day. Notre Dame seemed safely in until there was this big push by ESPN in the final week before selection day for there to be a ND-Miami debate, when for weeks it didn’t seem like there was one. Seemingly the committee’s decision had more to do with ACC politics or caving to pressures from the many ND haters. Or maybe the fact that Miami resides in the ACC, which has an ESPN deal, while Notre Dame is an NBC product.
Countless examples of things like this over the years, the committee making decisions for TV purposes, political purposes, serving ESPN’s agenda, satisfying the conferences, whatever. Anything but just ranking the teams.

Players, Coaches and teams couldn't rely on the Playoff Committee's rankings all year, when they continually flip the script at the final hour.
They flip-flop Alabama and ND in the rankings before the SEC Championship game (with ND's season already over) just so they can hide behind ONE week of Bama being ranked ahead of ND if Bama got curb stomped by Georgia... But it was still obvious, they had made up their mind in putting Bama in DESPITE ranking Notre Dame above them for all of November.
Notre Dame coach was right in calling B.S. when there's no promissory estoppel...and the final vote is a redo of what came before week after week even if teams were sitting at home.

Decrease the number of teams to 8 and then start with the Rose, Cotton, Sugar, and Orange Bowls one new year’s day. The Fiesta and Peach Bowl after that and then the national championship on the next Saturday. That way everyone gets a bye.
