Nebraska rolls. Alabama ain’t stopping Tommie Frazier, Ahman Green and Laurence Phillips.
35-20
35-20

They also got their asses shutout by Arizona State and lost to a mediocre Texas team in the Big XII championship in ‘96
if we using years that followed a championship, then 2019 LSU has even less of an argument than ‘95 Nebraska.

I truly believe that we'd score on every offensive possession.
we didn’t do that to any team we played in 2019.
you really telling me that ‘95 Nebraska would lose to every single team we played in 2019 including Northwestern State?
seriously

LSU lost about everything in 2020. Nebraska returned much of the 1995 team in 1996.

They didn't return Tommie Frazier or Lawrence Phillips. They also lost a very good back-up QB in Brook Berringer. He played pretty much the entire '94 season when Frazier went out with blood clots.

Just curious, who do you think the greatest NFL team of all-time?

other than their 3x national championship QB that’s widely regarded as the best option QB ever.
their starting running back
and 3 offensive linemen.
not that any of those positions are important to an option based offense.

Tommie Frazier wouldn’t have been the one getting smoked by James Street and Priest Holmes for 37 points and 500 yards of total offense like Wistrom, Tomich, Jason Peter, Michael Booker, Mike Minter, and some of those guys did. That was embarrassing.
And you would think with Ahman Green (who started most of the year in 1995) and three returning OL could at least kick a FG against ASU instead of giving up 2-3 safeties. That was embarrassing too.
I remember watching that 1996 Arizona State game late, late at night when I was a junior in high school. Those guys were ready to play. Dominated from the opening drive.

Again, that Scott Frost's first year at QB. Totally different from Frazier. The previous year, Frazier & Co. dropped 77 on the Sun Devils. Not sure why people are continuing to talk about the 96 team. It was a huge step down from the Frazier era.
The truth of the matter is, had Frazier received his medical redshirt and returned in 96, Nebraska would've won 4 straight NCs.

do you think we lose to Miss State in 2020 with Joe Burrow?
that’s how big of a loss Frazier was.
Frazier is to option football what Joe is to modern offenses.

because the ‘96 team knocked them down a peg.
but heaven forbid you bring up Brennan/Finley/Johnson from 2020

By the time Frazier left, Osborne was starting to see the writing on the wall. Heck, he still could be coaching today. Stuck around to get another championship in 97 and then got out while he was on top.

that should end all arguments.
1995 Nebraska = Tom Osbourne
2001 Miami = Larry Coker
2019 LSU = Ed freaking Orgeron
which coach you taking?

Exactly. LSU fans thinking the GOAT team was coached by O

So 45-21 is your argument with 14 points scored in the second half and 7 scored in the third?
Posted on 7/17/22 at 10:26 pm to moontigr
The writing on the wall that he couldn’t take partial qualifiers anymore, yes.

He was just along for the ride while Aranda handled the defense and E/Brady handled the offense. No one but like 3 morons on tRant think 0 is in any significant way responsible for coaching the dominance of 2019

Yeah, Frazier is without a doubt the greatest option QB of all-time. He had speed, power, and great decision-making. The guy was also a vocal leader on the team. You can't replace a player like that so easily. He was also something of an underrated passer. Not many people realize this, but Nebraska led the Big 8 in passing offense in 1995.
