Gruden owes his genius reputation to taking a team that was already a SB contender the distance in a game where he knew what the Raiders' offense was going to do

Yea he had a great defense and a smart quarterback. Booger is from my hometown so I enjoyed watching those Bucs teams.

TB had a hell of a defense. I'm talking the old school late 80's NFC defense type that shut down teams.
they shutdown Marshall Faulk in that game and that was just something you didn't see hardly at all back then. I don't even think he was a factor catching the ball out of the backfield that day.
on the other side the Rams had an underrated defense they got after Shaun King all day.
The Bucs D was nasty that year.
Sapp
Brooks
Ronde Barber
Lynch
I think Hardy Nickerson was still playing for them then?
Donnie Abraham was underrated.

They did have replay back then so it was looked at and upheld.

Common misconception so not to be
guy but;
That yard would have made the game a tie. Short of Fisher having some brass hangers, the game goes to OT.
Vermeil said he would've kept slinging it to Bruce & Co. if that were the case.
FML I stopped watching any sports for a month.
