quote:no they didn’t. They played ok. But let’s be real ASH had two drops leading to one punt and another with two miscommunications on passes. If ASH never threw it they would’ve not punted all night. Byrd possessed the ball the entire third quarter. Byrd QB was a good player and they were patient with the veer. Two busted plays led to two Byrd scores. It was a good game. I think Byrd gave their best shot. Nothing dirty.
Byrd played dirty on defense. ASH was lucky to get out without any key injuries.
Now a week to prepare for Curtis.

Iowa, Franklinton will be a great game next week.
I hope so. Honestly, I don’t know anything about Iowa. Franklinton has been getting away with stupid penalties and costly turnovers all season, that has to stop if Franklinton wants to get back to the Dome. Franklinton has the talent, especially Austin the RB, IMO he has SEC talent. Franklinton had a DB ejected tonight because of two unsportsmanlike penalties, and honestly it should have been 3. Hopefully, Franklinton can play a clean game and get back to the Dome.

At least two Texas high school playoff games were played in Louisiana today. Both at Turpin Stadium in Natchitoches. One this afternoon, and one in the evening.
Dangerfield: 62
Newton: 28
Port Neches-Groves: 31

Tha star of the show is Ford he’s totaled 119 rushing touchdowns in his career
(5 tonight). Everyone focuses on him and rightfully so but their defense is really solid. Only allowing 17 points the last 6 games.

Why? I thought the smaller schools in Texas had stadiums the size of the big schools in Louisiana.

Great game. Bunkie offense had the ball about 6 times. Summer Wing T controlled the clock. Bunkie won with great D and a 90 yard pick 6

WHAT A GAME IT WAS!!
Central 21 West Monroe 7
......Emotional Return of starting RB Manny Williams ; who has missed his ENTIRE Sr. season due to horrific wreck (including QB& WR) just before season opener. Played about 20 snaps!....scored a TD to seal the deal!
Central / West Monroe were tied 7 - 7 at the Half
QB Jackson Firmin had a long TD Run.
3rd qtr WM with a ballsy 4th & 1 inside their own 20 yard line ...stopped short/FUMBLE.....That was the "Game Changer" ! Central Defense is on another level!
Soph. RB Marvin Joesph scored Central's 2nd TD ; also a Dawg on Defense too.
D-End DK Mays (Houston committ) body slammed a RB for the Exclamation point!
Central for a RE-MATCH @ Neville AGAIN!! Last year was Epic!

The best RB in the state (Xavier Ford) is the headliner, and rightfully so.
Three straight 2K yard seasons. Got over the 3K yard mark tonight on the first carry of the game. Broke the school's all time rushing yards and TD records held by Cecil Collins. Also set the single season rushing yds record tonight.
Sophomore QB that has been more than capable of making the necessary throws when teams load up to stop the run. Two really good WRs as well. Only Iowa has been able to contain them offensively this season.
But the defense has been really impressive down the stretch.

Man...that was one of the worst refereed games I have ever seen. Took 2 tds off the board for Neville. And whoever is #4 for Chalmette ought to be furious....because he made a few great plays that were nullified by some weird arse "4 men in the backfield" calls. It was total bullshite. Not sure where this crew came from, but they were terrible. (Not that this affected the score...because by the 4th, Neville had gassed their d line and was moving at will. I was impressed at the scrappiness of Chalmette. I was worried going into the 4th only up 14 because of what Cjalmette has done. But, the line took over and strangled Chalmette. It was over at that point.

Are sure it wasn’t 5 in the backfield - a very common penalty illegal formation

I have no idea, other than Texas plays their playoff games at a neutral site. Maybe NSU’s stadium met their needs as both a big stadium and equal distance from the schools.
Also, I noticed a lot of Texas playoff games today were played in the afternoon, and were part of a double-header with another game at the same stadium later in the evening.
Texas High - Port Neches-Groves featured two highly ranked Texas 5A teams. It was a huge game played in Louisiana.

Catholic NI shuts out Newman 31-0 at Newman. Surprising score.
