Y'all see Michael Bay is sueing Cadillac F1 for $1.5M? He claims they brought him on to direct the Super Bowl commercial, fired him after brainstorming sessions, then used his ideas anyway without his permission.

Cadillac said they talked to him and realized he couldn’t meet their time limit, he wouldn’t be able to do it in time for the Super Bowl. He said it hurts him to sue them because he has had a long standing relationship with GM dating back to the original transformers movie when they helped him design/build bumblebee.

So what happens if the Mercedes engine ends up DQed? Mercedes, McLaren, Alpine and Williams sit out half the year?

I guess it depends on what they find.
With the FIA clarification months ago Merc would likely sue and win, for whatever that is worth. Assuming the FIA makes them illegal this year.
I don't see an illegal ruling happening before middle of the year. Lead time to manufacture new engines is not done in a week. And then Merc engines would need some sort of allowance for additional engines since they are being forced to change from an engine that was legal.
Never underestimate the FIA and their ability to shill for merc or the competition on some shitty reasoning.

Did Merc ship the same engine to their buyers?

By the rules they have to. Different engines were ruled out a few years ago.
