The Cup Series will have a new right-side tire for Atlanta. The construction (what is underneath the tread) is similar to changes made for tires used at other 1.5-mile tracks. Designed to have more wear. The Atlanta tires (construction-tread combination) only used at Atlanta.

For the truck race at St. Pete, FOX-INDYCAR analyst Townsend Bell will be in the booth with Jamie Little and Michael Waltrip. And FOX-INDYCAR pit reporter Georgia Henneberry will be on pit road with Amanda Busick.

NASCAR
@NASCAR

On this day in 2001, the NASCAR community lost a legend.

We remember Dale Earnhardt on the 25th anniversary of his passing.

Jimmy Johnson said next year's 500 is his last race. Put Jr our there, talk Smoke into one more ride after running in the truck race this year. Let the three of them team up and see what happens.

If Jr. were to do it, who are they putting on the car as sponsor? Doubt they could stick with Stapleton's whiskey as it would be a direct competitor to Jr's vodka.

If anyone follows NHRA all races on Fox or FS1.

With F1 going Apple they too have a chance to pick up race fan viewers.

Great picture of them cruising around the track at 50% throttle.

Pretty good short video from Marty Smith about Dale Earnhardt and the 25th anniversary of his passing.

Most watched truck race in 10 years. With F1 going Apple, I think some Nascar fans who drifted away to them come back. Plus having Tony helps too.

Another nice number for the O'Reilly race at Daytona: 1.81 million viewers, which is basically flat from 1.8 million last year. Worth noting last year was the biggest Xfinity opener since 2020 though, so this is good viewership.

Also of note: The CW reports 340k viewers from the 18-49 demographic, which is the largest O'Reilly viewership for that demo since Aug. 2018 at Watkins Glen (an NBC race).

Here we sit 25 years later and NASCAR still hasn’t recovered. The sport didn’t die the day but the decline started.

I was an Earnhardt fan - my dad worked for GM, met him and I always got diecast cars of his Winston paint schemes. I followed Jr after he died but when he retired, I started to lose interest.

The sad thing is had he lived, he would’ve been an owner and a voice big enough to prevent the France grandkids from driving it to where it is now. The sport needed his presence.

I agree. NASCAR has never recovered from losing him. He had influence with NASCAR in a way that no other driver did or has had since Dale.

His legacy transcends the generations, though. Even 25 years after his death, you still see him everywhere at a NASCAR race.
