guess I should give a try outside of Olympic time, I just don't understand a single rule or thing about the game

It's a surprisingly simple game. Unlike basketball (to me, at least), hockey rules all make sense. If you see something that looks like it shouldn't be legal, chances are, it's against the rules.

As everyone has said, it's absolutely the best sport in person, at any level. I've been to the Summer Olympics, NFL, NBA, and MLB playoffs, and the NHL all Star game is the single greatest sporting event I've ever seen in person.

Plus, there's nowhere for the noise to go. Arenas get ridiculously loud. It's awesome.

Chris Valicevik is likely a hall of famer if he was in the NHL

This is a hard hitting game for an exhibition. Very enjoyable.

You absolutely should. It’s tough without a team, I’ve found myself sort of rooting for a few different teams where I’ve attended multiple games (Avs, Stars, Knights, Caps) but it’s kind of fun to watch playoff time as a neutral observer. I like to root for the US stars as well

The combination of physicality and skill isn’t matched in any other sport aside from the NFL in my opinion

First professional hockey game I ever saw was Houston Aeros with Gordie Howe with Mark and Marty

When I lived in D C my landlord had season tickets to the Capitals

and the 80 Miracle on Ice was a premier memory

We went to tons of Aeros games. An NHL Aeros team would immediately become my 1B with the Stros. Hopefully soon

For the hockey newbies in here - also note that these guys play 82 games and 4 rounds of best of 7

Truly the most physically grueling sport out there

Jack Hughes can flat out skate. it takes him about half a second before everyone else looks like they’re in slow motion

And then you remember they’re doing this all while skating on ice.

Exactly. It’s the toughest sport to play. Constant motion and contact the whole game.

Anyone that questions this needs to go look at the list of injuries that the guys who play in the Stanley Cup finals have after the season ends. They are playing with broken ribs, torn ligaments, meniscus tears, etc

For those of you who haven’t gone to an NHL game.. Make it apart of your bucket list. There’s no other sport like it in person.
