i can tell, man. i think they just sacraficed him today, keeping him out there when he didn't have his best stuff and with an umpire that has a moving strike zone. hell, you never know, in wrigley, this game may not be over.

You have to keep the bullpen fresh. They are starting a streak of 20 straight games without a day off. Need to get as much as you can out of Backe. This game is a lost cause. Need to focus on the games ahead. And Backe in now done-zo

It is the 4th inning...we came back from 6-1 yesterday. We had a man on base and Coop should have pinch hit for Backe. He obviously had nothing left and didnt need to go back out there for the 4th inning. I understand the need to save the bullpen but you play to win the game. Coop is playing this game for the Cincy series.

With Jason Marq on the mound anything is possible.

Backe is probably a better hitter than most of the guys on the bench anyway so I don't mind him hitting.Plus what if they did end of coming back and pinched hit for him earlier. By the 8th inning they are out of bench players. I don't see why trying to get another inning out if him is that big of a deal.

Backe is a slightly below average hitter. Mark Loretta and Miguel Tejada are on the bench. Its a big deal because he had nothing left in the tank and didn't need to go back out there. He had no confidence as evident by the walk to Mark DeRosa when he glanced down to see if anyone was warming up in the bullpen.

He deserved to be in there and give up all 13. Even if you don't have your best stuff you have got to find a way to get outs. I respect the fact he made him finsh the crappy inning. That's just my opinion

How is it that the Cubs get a 7 run lead and Marquis starts throwing much more in the zone yet the astros can't hit anything
