West Monroe had some good teams too. Back in the 80s, it seemed like Ruston played Neville every year. John Ehret had some good teams as well.
should be noted 1980 JE was 12-2 with a regular season 14-13 loss to esj and a semi 15-14 loss to Barbe

1985 Ehret's only loss was to JC

1980 East St. John 15, Barbe 8
Phil Greco (14-0) Charles Vicknair (14-1)

1981 John Ehret 32, Covington 13
Jesse Daigle (14-1) Jack Salter (12-3)

1982 Ruston 8, Neville 0
Chick Childress (15-0) Charlie Brown (12-2)

1983 Neville 40, Terrebonne 14
Charlie Brown (12-0) Kelley Pugh (11-2)

1984 Neville 26, Ruston 20
Charlie Brown (12-1) Chick Childress (13-2)

1985 John Ehret 42, St. Martinville 7
Ray St. Pierre (12-1) Carroll Delahoussaye (13-2)

1986 Ruston 31, Slidell 24 (OT)
Chick Childress (14-0) Wayne Grubb (13-1)

1987 Shaw 14, Covington 6
Hank Tierney (13-2) Jack Salter (13-2)

1988 Ruston 28, Shaw 14
Chick Childress (13-2) Hank Tierney (12-3)

1989 Ouachita 35, Brother Martin 7
Mike Vallery (13-1) Bobby Conlin (11-4)

Like Keith Fulton, who ran all over Barbe that game? Scored 3 TD’s.

And Damien Williams who was basically a man playing amongst boys…

Steven Dunbar

Cethen Carter grew up in the city.

Besides, what difference does that make if they’re from the Westbank?

You think that 2012 Curtis team were all from River Ridge?

I don't think they gave up a point the entire regular season.

Ruston 1990 best ever IMO

Ruston blitzkrieged through the 4A playoffs that season, outscoring opponents 200-27. The Bearcats opened postseason play by blasting Barbe 42-0, before defeating Natchitoches-Central 41-0, Baker 38-14, Thibodaux 27-3, and then blowing past a Catholic team that included standouts of its own such as Warrick Dunn 52-10 for the championship.

Ruston 1990.

They outscored their playoff opponents 200-27. Went undefeated in hands down the toughest district in the state at the time, beating Ouachita, West Monroe and Neville.

Ended up Ranked #1 nationally in some polls.

Ruston 90 is definitely deserving. Just wanted to highlight this to give a nod to a team that gets overlooked.

West Monroe 2000 beat the best schedule and gave up 14 points total in the playoffs. Beat Texas 5A 3 time champ Midland Lee with Cedric Benson, 4A runner up John Curtis, MS 5A champ Moss Point, and MS 4A champ Clarksdale. Other than Moss Point, they beat the brakes off the other 3.

2012 Rummel

Not taking anything away from Rummel, but they got damn lucky Barbe pulled off a miracle against WM the week before. While WM defense was not as traditionally powerful as former years, it would have been enough to slow Rummel down.

WM offense that year was rolling come playoff time.

The 1998 West Monroe team is the best team I ever saw play and was great on offense and defense, with the defense being dominate. It would have held its own against that Malcolm led 1990 Ruston offense, but WMs offense would have been the difference against Ruston's defense. LINK Check out that team’s absurd playoff scores: 52-0, 54-14, 49-6, 35-0 and 32-14.

But they didn't beat Barb so your point is moot...

If you had told me that WM wouldn’t win a title again (for at least a long time) after that collapse at Barbe…

But I saw Rummel that year. They looked like a champion…
