My guess is Beane threw McDermott under the bus when speaking to the Pegula's, and the Pegula's agreed to fire him and that they needed change, but at the same time, they gave Beane all these promotion to say "Now you're fully in charge. If you all don't get it done next year, you're gone too."

Bad year to fire him, if anything they should've done it last year. As a Chiefs fan I'm glad they didn't they could've had Ben Johnson. I'm also glad Beane will still be doing the drafting. The pressure was all on Allen for this year's playoffs. The pressure will grow every year until he wins the SB. It's fun to give the Bills fans a little trash talk for the rivalry but Allen is a good guy as well as their fans so I wouldn't mind seeing them get a SB.

I love how we ignore the 6 games in a row in the playoffs McDermott had a QB who had ZERO turnovers

Most of which are losses to this eras dynasty, which finally collapsed this season. 4 of buffalos last 6 ended at the hands of Mahomes. The chiefs took 4 of the last 5 AFC crowns before this season and beat the bills in 4 of them. Burrow only other to beat the bills during that time.

If you’re going to fire guys for losing to a dynasty, usually by a single score, you have too high of expectations. This was their shot while KC was down, and Josh Allen fumbled it away.

So if you bring McDermott back, your plan for next year would be this to win the Super Bowl:

Score 30 plus points in every single playoff games with no turnovers at all and hope that’s enough

The point you are making is that it is a foregone conclusion that McDermott can not field a quality defense.

Do you think that's because he is unable to get enough talent on defense, or because he's unable to implement a quality defense even though he has enough talent?

Do you need someone to elevate the defense? Or just someone to get a result equivalent to the talent level?

Seriously. Bengals and Bills should've had side conversations with Ben last year to see if it was a fit. McD getting fired before Taylor is an embarrassment, but right on point for Bengals ownership. However, getting BJ with either Burrow or Allen would've been great for them.

Truth is you don’t need an offensive minded coach with Allen

Yeah I tend to agree. Once your QB is solidified as a top 5 guy, it can certainly help if the coach is an offensive one but I think I would rather have a top 5 QB and a defensive minded coach like Macdonald.

Brian Flores with Josh Allen would be terrifying

anything more specific than "a DC" that you think would solve the Bills issues? You seem to think the offensive is a given. It seems that hiring a defensive mind...or a just a solid HC (Harbaugh type) would give the best results vs. hiring a Mike McDaniel type.

How about kubiak and Jim Schwartz at dc

So those that disagree with the firing , do you think Baltimore should do whatever it takes to get McDermott?

Name-calling just makes you look like a moron. You should be more respectful when having a discussion.

When is Taylor on the sidelines during games? Bill's whore should not be involved with the team.

Bill isn't a player. The only time a head coach has switched teams within a division is when Belichick suddenly left the Jets, while having never coached a game there, to go to New England.
Hiring a 73 year sugar daddy would be a colossally stupid thing to do.

The job of the coach of the Buffalo Bills since Josh Allen evolved into an MVP level of quarterback has been to win Super Bowls, not games. McDermitt has got to the front porch six or seven years in a row but has never been able to unlock the front door. Every year he fails Josh Allen gets one year closer to being post-Seahawks Russel Wilson or post-Packers Aaron Rodgers. In this case regular season records, division titles, and any other metric of success become irrelevant. The only metric is are you putting Allen in position to win a Super Bowl and if you aren't getting to the Super Bowl you aren't reaching that metric. If McDermitt coached his entire career with Kirk Cousins or Derek Carr at quarterback and had the same seasons his job would not have been in jeopardy and Beane is probably walking the plank for not getting McDermitt a Josh Allen to lead his offense by now.

And beane said no I also am curious about the midseason trade for a wr and if McDermott vetoed it.

Clearly you haven’t kept up. McDermott was pissed that Jax made a move for Jakobi Meyers while all Beane could do was pick up Cooks and Hardman

Beane is just as responsible if not more so for the Bills failures

I would imagine inside the bills ownership knows who had the majority of personnel control

You probably need to hire Schwartz as HC.

But that would address the need expressed by pride, right?

Using Pride's analysis as the basis,

Flores, Schwartz, or even Dennis Allen would be a logical hire that improves their chances.

2 things that have always sucked for the Bills with Allen at QB. Their defense and their WRs. Blows my mind all these years they have wasted not fixing this while having a top QB

The last two pass attempts of the season were to mecole hardman and Brandin cooks

That is wild to say , even with that 30 pts were scored against one of the best defenses in the NFL

I agree with the Bills hiring a defensive minded head coach to fix their defense. Josh Allen is making that offense work with nothing at WR. Allen doesn’t need an insane supporting cast on offense to win a championship. They just need to have an elite defense right now. The reason the Patriots had a dynasty was Bill was basically the best defensive mind in football. Brady would always get the most out of that offense and Bill would figure it out on the defense.
