In the 7 playoff losses with Allen, the defense had given up 32 PPG

It’s emotional to say McDermott “didn’t deserve” to be fired. Allen has hidden for alot of people just how awful McDermott and his defense is in the playoffs for a defensive coach
Deserve has nothing to do with it. It's about what gives the Bills the best chance moving forward.
Honestly, if you think the offense is a given and all you need is a defensive mind, the Bills should hire Dennis Allen.
I suspect, you won't like that idea though. And, when you explain why, you'll understand why this move is questionable.

I would hire an offensive minded coach and actually turn over the defense to a DC

anything more specific than "a DC" that you think would solve the Bills issues?
You seem to think the offensive is a given. It seems that hiring a defensive mind...or a just a solid HC (Harbaugh type) would give the best results vs. hiring a Mike McDaniel type.

5 different OCs over the last 7 years and every year it’s a top 5 scoring offense
Any reason you want to give for the offense not being a given?

You had to fire McD. Not sure how Taylor is still around.

I'm on the Belichick to Buffalo train

Of all the firings, this may be the worst. Granted, firing Harbaugh was really dumb.

I didn't argue otherwise. I was using it to address the topic at hand of who should be selected to replace McDermott.
Personally, I think competent offensive coaching is very important...even with a guy like Allen. However, I don't think the coaching is the reason the Bills hit a wall every year. I think it's overall talent.

Just make it crystal clear that there will be no more hiring a career defensive guy to be the OC bullshite and the late life crisis girlfriend stays in North Carolina.

Nah. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over. Maybe fire the GM first and McD next year, worst case.
As already said, Josh Allen has consistently played well. I could understand not well enough to win a SB. But well enough to make it to a SB. If you don't change it up after continually not making it, you are accepting mediocrity.

Did I miss that Josh allen and co are leaving? At some point a HC is only so much when you have a guy like Brady, Mahomes, and Josh allen.

Mediocrity in the NFL is not winning seasons and playoff appearances every year. That's actually being elite in the NFL, not mediocre.

I don't have a problem with the firing in principle but, man, is this a tough year to be looking for a coach, especially with (arguably) the best two available already off the board, six others still looking and getting such a late start.

So if you bring McDermott back, your plan for next year would be this to win the Super Bowl:
Score 30 plus points in every single playoff games with no turnovers at all and hope that’s enough
That just seems dumb to keep trying that

Sure, you aren't wrong.
But lets add just a small, yet very important twist to this. You have arguably a top 3 QB for the past umpteen years and the other QBs have gone further

Bengals defense is horrible
Yet for 7 playoff games in a row they do this for pts allowed

Bills likely have two super bowls if McDermott could have produced that
That’s 7 straight games of 24 pts or less. McDermott has never gone more than 3, and that was his first 3 playoff games

One, Belichick is washed. Two, no team should have to deal with his little sideline frick buddy. Three, this is Buffalo where Bill is hated by fans.
