Why do baseball players care if a guy shows them up? Players talk trash in every other sport but this archaic one.

You can, just expect the next one to be in your earhole. Just like trash talk can lead to a football or basketball game getting chippy. Difference is, baseball players aren't in constant contact like in the other sports so the retaliation has to wait to your next at bat.

All he has ever heard is how great he is! He thinks it, knows it, acts it. He is young and spoiled! Where is Nolan Ryan when you need him...a 95 mile an hour fastball between the shoulder blades OR in the ear hole, will shut the kid up. And that's what he will get when he hits the bigs.

He plays hard and is dominating the league he is in, you are gonna fault him for doing some showboating. I bet you want to stop touchdown celebrations too.

the dude is 18 years old, having fun and dominating single-A ball

if you want him to stop you should probably try to get him out instead of hitting him

Thing is, though, his action was in response to getting hit by a pitch.

Would you rather batters charge the mound, or would you rather them blow kisses?

Touchdown and home run celebrations are great, with your team. Blowing a kiss is like taunting the other team with the ball on the 5-yard line as you run in a long touchdown. He is spoiled and pampered and part of the game is acting that way sometimes and then getting drilled. He is a big boy now and knows what can happen. He calls intention hit pitches when guys show up his team.

Having said that, he is talented, will get to the bigs, will give drilled if he acts like a spoiled brat and will learn to stop doing that. Others will be just as talented as he is. If he can really dominate at the plate, then try not to put him at Catcher too much. He has been so hyped, that if he "misses" on a tremendous career, then there really is no sure thing.

Intentional?

If I have to pick between the 2 I would say charging the mound because I find the blowing kisses thing to be about the gayest taunt ever. But I get your point. Mound charges should only happen in direct retaliation to an obvious intentional plunking IMO.

Not taking a side here, I really don't care. He should just be on his toes next time they play each other.

A-fricking-men.

I'm all for seeing him eat some dirt from time to time if that's what it takes. But the best way to shut him up is to sit him back on the bench.

Not many in A ball can do that.
