I just think about the fact that for every 1 of those guys there are probably 20 other guys going there who end up flaming out and ruin their high school experience and early years of adulthood.
Major college scouts are at every game. Kids that sometimes aren’t on the radar get noticed. I had a family member get a baseball scholarship because he shined some genes when scouts were showing up to see his SS teammate.

No doubt it works out for a lot of them but I think my point still stands.

Where in El Con? My parents ended up buying a place for our last two years (64th) and sold their house to an incoming family from India. Whole place is so different than when we left in 2008. The whole front side facing 34th is completely different. Last time we were there, end of 2023, we went through what we called the back side for Leadbetter but holy shite that whole side is way more than just the original townhomes and soccer fields.

If the top-tier athlete receives scholarship at IMG, the athlete must agree to pay IMG future % of their professional contract
You sure???.., not saying you wrong .,.but I always thought contracts signed under the age of 18 are basically non binding

I was sort of wondering the same thing . Maybe the State of Florida passed some law just for them

Because of this board, I ended up going to one of IMGs games and met Dylan Moses while he was there. The stadium was very average considering the amount of talent that came through there. (Much bigger stadiums in other places) Not a huge number of fans there like a traditional high school football game and the players hung out after the game. You guys hyped Dylan Moses up so big, I thought he was going to be this larger-than-life character but was surprised actually how small the #1 linebacker in the country was.
For reference I played with Micah Johnson who was extremely intimidating on the field. Anyway, I ended up taking a tour of the weight room and field house after the game was over with some of the other parents. It was ok, just felt like a small private school.

Yes. They are giving scholarships to the big names with hopes that they make it all the way, and sign with their agency.
Pretty sure they make it a requirement. They gotta figure if only 10% of their basketball/football recruits make it big, it pays for itself.

IMG is worth it for tennis players and basketball players. With tennis the only way you can improve is to play against other great players daily and you get that at IMG. Basketball I think is also a positive bc it’s like playing EYBL all year round.
The rest of the sports I don’t think is worth it. You can get to the high D1 football level from anywhere if you have the measurables.
I think IMG is a combination of serious future pros that don’t pay much to go there, and affluent boarding school babies who don’t have the talent but rich parents that pretend they do

IMG Pickle ball is where the money is at.

Where in El Con?
We were trying to buy in Legends Bay. Beautiful homes but that area was changing so much and it is so close to the bay , it made us nervous after Ian.
Moved out by the interstate on Clark Rd. The traffic around EL Con and 75th street now is unreal. I am so glad we stayed away from there. They are building a massive sub division at EL Con and Cortez road now that is going to totally blow that area out of control. You wont be able to get through there to get to the Island on Cortez. I launch my boat at Conquina a lot now but will probably launch in Sarasota at 10th street or in the Manatee River after that place opens up
I think the new sub division is called Sea Flower or something like that and will have 4000-5000 homes. Plus Aqua is on El Con right beside Legends Bay and has thousands. Glad we avoided that area but could have made a lot of money buying when we were looking and just moved now.

I just asked my mom (perks of all being together) where we were and they were in the The Esplanade on 63rd. My mom went back a year ago to see a friend and she agrees with your statement that the whole area is going to be a mess in the next few years.

I went for a month back in 2000 when it was still just tennis. I was offered full ride no cost. I beleive it was like 35k back then for full price
Basically it was 10% kids like me who didn’t pay anything and had a real shot of being something
40% paid some and had a chance of being a good college player. The other 50% paid full price from rich parents, didn’t want to be there, and did a metric shite ton of drugs
I hated the environment. It was awful. But it’s those rich kids with no chance that keep the lights on so the good athletes can go for free
