I wanted to give LeBron the benefit of the doubt in seeing if it would work out with Blatt. But, I said on here last year that if he was setting it up so his buddies' stupid agency can get Mark Jackson in, then I lose all respect for him. Woj says it was the plan all along. The organization wouldn't budge on Jackson, so Lue became the compromise choice. I think I am back in the cptbengal camp. Pat Riley must be laughing his tail off at all of this. When you deal with LeBron, you take on his cronies who think they are top financiers, marketers, and basketball GMs. "Klutch Sports."

So here's what's coming now: the trickle of stories on Blatt's incompetence, the fact that no one respected him, and maybe most of all, that James had nothing to do with his firing. For all the fairytales sold on James' return to Cleveland, this was forever about business – the kind of business they couldn't do within Riley's organization, nor Erik Spoelstra's locker room.

The Woj article is basically telling us what we already assumed. We all know LeBron is a POS.

Wasn't he hired before Lebron told SI he was going back to Cleveland?

About two weeks prior. When Blatt was hired, the Cavs roster had Kyrie, Wiggins, Waiters and Thompson to build around. He thought he was getting a solid young nucleus to build and grow with for several years. Then LeBron came into the picture and everything changed. At first, it appeared to be a great situation for his first NBA HC job.

Did Lebron want a black coach?

I what other reason do you have for firing a guy that has you in first and has the 6th best winning percentage of all-time? It's just odd that he picked a black guy from Mexico to take over?

James nonchalantly told the media he didn't consult Blatt on the changes.

James is one of the great leaders in pro sports, and he directed the Cavaliers how he wanted them: in complete defiance of Blatt

...and yet you will constantly have people stick up for LeBron and talk about what a great person he is on-and-off the court. He is an insidious prick and would have done the exact same thing to Spoelstra if not for Pat Riley. The fact this was an effort to install Mark Jackson shows how clueless he really is.

I've shifted the blame pie from 100% of this being on Lebron and the Cavs organization, to a small part of this also being Blatt's fault.

People forget that he was getting paid a lot of money to not only coach the x's and o's of this game, but to motivate and inspire his players. That's his job. I can't completely absolve a coach at this level. They can't just order Lebron to respect the guy. Blatt had to earn it himself. Just like in high school, some teachers kept their class in line while that same group runs all over a weaker teacher.

And it's not a black and white thing because there are plenty of white coaches that can and have done just that. Actually the vast majority of HOF coaches are white and had the responsibility of coaching black players. You don't think they ever had challenges with managing egos/connecting with players? They had the ability to overcome it. Blatt doesn't right now.

Blatt simply didn't have the experience to deal with this type of NBA team, where the stakes are as high as they are. He would've been best served to work as an assistant of someone who is excellent at managing NBA player egos.

It also explains why he does not get along with K Love at all.
He got along with Birdman and Mike Miller tho? Maybe Love's defense is what gets under Lebron's skin.

Lue have some amazing plan that stops Steoh Curry from being the greatest shooter of all time,

Or greatest shooter of this ' no contact ' Era? (various players West , Maravich, Bird , Miller,Allen.,etc...could place the ball in the hoop quite smoothy & defenders could actually touch them/ cause discomfort ).

It must be nice for Curry that a sundry of perimeter defenders ( Payton,Kidd,Jordan,Pippen, Richmond, Harpers,Richmond,etc..) can't body check him to deny the ball, hand or forearm check to keep him off balance & away from the basket/ out of the lane.

Or actually attempt to contest shots without Curry ,Harden,etc....initiating a bit of contact to draw a foul. Flop fest.

Different Eras. Different rules. Excellent shooter.

Plenty of basketball reasons. Bad reasons, IMO, but far more credible than folks immediately and ignorantly playing the race card.

It's not odd at all that a much-admired assistant coach be the choice. Not saying he's a better or worse choice than the status quo with Blatt, but let's not act like a random black guy was just plucked off the street.

There are just very few NBA coaches who have the clout to actually challenge their players... pop and Carlisle may be he only two (maybe spoelstra bc he's backed by strong management).

Blatt falls in with the other 28 guys... very much expendable by trigger happy management eager to please their coddled stars.

And remember, if it wasn't for Lue, Blatt would have probably called for an illegal timeout at the end of a tie game, and cost the Cavs the game to go down 3-2 to the Bulls.

I mean Chris Weber was only a 20-year-old sophomore when he made that same error, and they were at least down (rather than tied). And this is still considered one of the biggest blunders in sports history.

I think Blatt is a good coach, but he was thrust into a position that would be tough for any first time coach.

Last year, even during the playoffs, many of the posters were (unfairly IMO) criticizing Blatt, calling him an incompetent fool. Now in fairness, many of the more well-read NBA fans (RTR, Ron, etc. ) weren't so critical of Blatt--so they've been consistent.

That being said, now EVERYBODY is critical of this move (which I agree with), not just those that were more supportive of him last year. SO the ironic part is that this also includes the posters who were, in the middle of the finals run, calling him an incompetent fool. Yet, they sit there and act flabbergasted and appalled. It's so strange.
