The Cotton Bowl was the traditional big NYD game through the 1994 game (after 1993 season). Then the Fiesta Bowl replaced it.

This is good info thanks. I'll re-work the results when I get some free time

The 1986 through 1990 Fiesta Bowls were all at least top 7 match-ups (2 of those were the de-facto national championship games), so you may want to count both/either Cotton and Fiesta wins for those seasons. The links below show the yearly results and the ranking of both teams at the time of the game to help you decide how to give points for those years.

I would move them around -- a bit -- if recent (21st century) performance / output is factored in:

Alabama (Since 2000; 6 rings)
LSU 4.69 (Since 2000; 3)
Georgia 4.885. (Since 2000; 2)
Ohio State 7.13 (Since 2000; 2)
Clemson 3.96 (Since 2000; 2)
Florida 4.07 (Since 2000; 2)
USC 6.2 (Since 2000; 1.5)
Michigan 6.15 (Since 2000; 1)
Oklahoma (Since 2000; 1)
Miami 4.02 (Since 2000; 1)
Oklahoma 6.5 (Since 2000; 1)
Tennessee 4.14 (Since 1998; 0)
Nebraska 5.05 (Since 1995; 0)
Notre Dame 6.4 (Since 1988; 0)
Penn State 4.96 (Since 1982; 0)

Too bad this century is only 25 years old and college football is 156 years old.

Man nobody cares about titles won in the 1910s 1920s. That wasn't football as we know it today.

All football before racial integration is invalid imo....that means anything before late 1960s....sorry michigan, notre dame.

Where are you getting this data from? Ohio State has 3 championships since 2000. I didn't bother checking data for other teams.

UGA has 82 more wins than LSU. Had LSU not vacated nearly 40 wins during the Miles era it would be a lot closer.

Wait are vacated wins not included?

Personally I think they should be included regardless of program..osu, usc, etc. Otherwise then there should also be a conversation about not including Heisman trophy winners, bowl wins etc.

Re major bowls, the Cotton has always been a major, along with Sugar, Orange and Rose. Fiesta then Peach are the nouveau majors.
