I wouldn't call it fair. In the NBA it never is.
Maybe it was the only way it could get done, but I wouldn't call it fair or even.
It obviously wasn't an exact 50/50 deal at the time.
However, Marc Gasol has blossomed into a good player. He's no star by any means, but 13 points and 8 rebound on near 55% shooting along with an average of a block and a half per game and a 71% Free Throw percentage is pretty damn good production from a player in his first 3 years in the league.
Kwame Brown didn't do shite for the Grizzlies, but he never has and probably never will be worth a damn.
Crittenton is down in the D-League and I don't seem him becoming worth anything to talk about in the near future.
As for the two draft picks; The 2008 pick via some trades brought the Grizzlies Darell Arthur. He's a decent bench player. The 2010 pick brought in Greivis Vasquez. He's a rookie bench player so who knows what he'll amount to.
So yeah at the time, the Lakers were committing highway robbery. The trade has since proven to be a lot kinder to the Grizzlies.

and the Lake Show has three Finals and two titles since then...

I wouldn't say it has been too kind to the Grizzlies outside of Marc Gasol. But it does look a little better now than it did back then, like you said.

Your point? The Grizzlies have never and were never going to be contenders. They reached their peak with Gasol. Their best chance for success is to collect some draft picks and hope a few guys develop into a core for that team and they become loyal to the franchise and the city because I don't exactly see players dreaming of playing for the Grizzlies.

It will be a Thunder/Heat/Celtics/Lakers parade for the next 5-6 years AT least. Why bother watching that shite?
Lakers/Celtics won like 8 out of 9 titles from 80 to 89 and those are thought of as some of the glory years for the NBA.
You personally might not like it. But many fans bitch about it while at the same time, ratings and popularity go up.

Across the board, neither of these are up worth even noting. Sure ratings are up for Heat games, but they have bottomed out for Cavs games.

Imagine the difference Tyson Chandler would make on that team. They never should have canceled that trade

They might be the best team in the West with Tyson, or at least in the position the Mavs are now.

Watching ESPN talk about this.... can someone tell me the last time ESPN broke a "these teams are working out a deal" story and the story actually came out true? It seems like every time a big deal is about to break and ESPN starts talking about it, it goes to shite.
Last season it was Amare to the Cavs. In baseball it was Cliff Lee to the Yankees. Then again Lee to the Yankees or Rangers was a lock. Carl Crawford was a lock to the Angels. It seems like a kiss of death every time these frickers spend hours talking about a deal in the works .

Chris Broussard is usually pretty good. As is Adam Schefter in the NFL.

The Thunder need one good solid big and they'll be a legit contender. They have 2 solid rotation guys in Krstic and Ibaka, but they need either a good defensive minded center or power forward who can give them 8-10 points a night. They want to target guys like Emeka Okafor, Al Horford, or Javalee McGee.
A line up of:
Westbrook
Green
Durant
Krstic/Ibaka/DMPF
Krstic/Ibaka/DMC
With a bench of James Harden, Thabo, Collison, and Krstic/Ibaka, they would have a consistent contender for the next 5-7 years.
