Opt outs after the first two seasons. I’m assuming the Astros weren’t going to agree to that.
I mean I just don’t get it. I was expecting some long term 7-10 year deal with 25-30 million a year. I’m just dumbfounded. I know he can be injury prone but I wouldnt think that would lead to a deal like this.

Now that the Astros shown they were willing to spend on Correa, reach out to Story. I think he’d fit in nicely. I understand he’s not the bat Correa is, but it somewhat fills that void.

I don’t want Story. Not at his asking price.
I’d rather get extensions for Ted and Yordan.
AL west just got tighter, Astros, Angels, and Rangers.
And Correa will be living in shithole MN getting nonstop pounded by the white Sox and Detroit.
He should have gone to Detroit.
He will opt out ASAP and get his mega contract with the Yankees.

Story outside of Coors is fools' gold. No thanks.
I am surprised that the Astros wouldn't match or do better... they must have not been willing to give the opt outs.

I think it is time to drop the Yankees as the big bad giant in Free Agency. They've signed Cole as their big name over the past 5 years and passed on everyone else. Including Harper, Correa, and Manny who many thought were locks.
Minnesota if Buxton stays healthy is going to surprise some people. Their line up is
C- Jeffers/Sanchez
1B- Sano
2B- Polanco
SS- Correa
3B- Gio
CF- Buxton
RF: Kiriloff
LF: Kepler
Cruz would have looked good at DH but this is a solid defensive team and potential on offense

But why though? They’d get another year or two of him during the window of still being a prime WS contender. Almost ideal actually.

Yeah deal is great, if he gets injured you cut bait after 1 year, if you win again great, if he has a fantastic season he helps you.
Means you are not tied down to a player long term who could become and albatross like Pujols, Misty, ARod

Exactly. And they’ve got his successor waiting in the wings. For two years now all we’ve heard ad nauseam was that the Astros wouldn’t give out mega long term deals, so this Twins nugget becomes a possibility and the Astros can’t match or beat it?

Glad they didn’t dump a lot of years into Carlos but kinda of puzzled they didn’t offer something similar to keep him around for another year.
Oh well, TYFYS Carlos

Shocked we couldn't/wouldn't offer that. Sucks.
TYFYS Carlos. We'll miss ya.
What we do at SS now?

Is it a player option or a team option? I assume Carlos would have signed a player option only deal if he was going to do short term.

Only thing I can think of is the bad blood/perceived disrespect with/from Crane was to a point that Correa wasn’t going to do that sort of deal with Houston.

Read wrong first time, thought it was a mutual, it is a player option, so still if he gets injured or play diminishes it is still only a 3 year deal.

Great point, could definitely just be a petty thing by Carlos and the agents at the perceived slight from the original offers

Basically, the Twins did the deal everyone figured the Astros would get done as the market for him looked like it dried up. Thanks for the memories, Carlos. Hope Peña is capable and ready.

Sucks that they let George go to pay Carlos, then he walks. TYFYS CC, but I hope you're miserable in Minny.

Go ahead and lock up those young players
