I'll miss Dubonaroo, not gonna lie.

So The Astros are planning for their infield to be as just as last years pitching staff.

I'm no big fan of Dubon. But this guy is cheeks.

Think there is still a need for a bench infielder with Urias DFA and now Dubon gone. Is Matthews the only one in the system that could fill that immediately? Or maybe there is someone out there cheaper than Allen even?

I liked Dubon when he was actually a bench player who would come in late defensively or or give the occasional day off
I did not like Dubon when he would inevitably become an everyday player because of injury or dumb manager and sometimes even hit leadoff

Correct. Have a cheap backup for Pena and move on (Correa can still play the position as well). Use the saved money to fortify the rotation.

Use Correa at SS if Pena gets hurt. They’re gonna sign a 2B and Altuve can still play there in a pinch. They have too many guys who can play 3B.
Perhaps they just try to sneak Allen through waivers at some point but just someone on a minor league deal to the minimum if you’re trying to save money

The number of infielders makes this confusing for me to game out.
If we think they are actively going to grab a 2B, is that working under the assumption Walker gets moved and Paredes slides to first?

I think trading one of them is inevitable, yes

"Money saving swap". Poverty franchise dollar store general manager Dana Brown. I have zero faith he will take the $3m saved from this and do anything useful with it.

I didn’t even know they did that.

Same. A little part of me fills empty that the Dubonaroo era is officially over.

Forget the money dump. You almost had to trade Dubon so that it was impossible for the manager to overplay him, as had been done his entire time here.
Never has the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" been more apt.

And now we've got this new toy!

At least that toy is cheaper. But better hope the rest of the lineup improves to account for that toy not having batteries.

It's all about building perspectives.
See, Altuve may be limited defensively, but he's a better hitter than that guy.

If tweet fails to load, click here. They also signed Enyel De Los Santos and a split contract to Trammell.
Was curious how they were going to handle Wesneski and Sanchez
