#1 being someone who never won it all invalidates the list.

Baker wins a championship if you give him almost any of the defenses the other guys on the list had when they played. I don't think he is number 1, but I'm not going to punish him for not having a defense either.

That said, Cam is clearly number 1 to me because no one on the list wins a championship with the roster he had around him. I'm not sure some of those guys even make that Auburn team bowl eligible.

If you're calculating NCs into the equation, how is AJ not on the list?

Because them winning with tomato cans at quarterback around that time shows that he wasn’t all that.

If you're ranking them based on their body of work in college, its Tebow #1 and then a massive gap between him and #2. College Tebow was unreal.

Pavia at 36 is criminal. Should have won the Heisman over Mendoza.

Par for the course.

If it was par for the course for ESPN Top 5 would be:

Vince, Cam, DeShaun, Kyler and Lamar

I’ve never understood the infatuation and worship the mainstream media outlets have for college Baker Mayfield

He had a great career, but he belongs in the 5-10 range. They always have him #1, it’s bizarre

AJ wasn't a tomato can in 2012

I'll never understand everyone's fascination with Vince Young. He was mobile and was an average passer.

He had a great game in the Rose Bowl against USC, but that's pretty much it.

Calling it merely a "great game" doesn't really do it justice. It was arguably the best championship game performance ever.

And I think folks lump his 2005 Rose Bowl performance in there too. He accounted for over 800 yards and 9 TDs in those two games. Texas really had no business being competitive in either of those games but VY dragged them across the finish line both times.

The list of QBs who could just single-handedly take over a big game like that with almost no help from their skill positions is exceedingly short. Cam and Vick are maybe the only others.

18 Leinart

People don't know what to make of Leinart despite his gaudy numbers in College (2X National Champion, Heisman, 10,694 passing yards, 99 Tds, 65% Completion % , 160 career QB rating)...

Because of his Pro career and the fact he drove a Ferrari in College on the field.

But his College career beats most of the Qbs ranked ahead of him by a large margin.

I get that. Just looking at his entire career outside of those two games, I thought he was solid but not this otherworldly player like Cam or Vick.

He had some NFL talent on offense (Jamaal Charles, David Thomas, Limas Sweed, Justin Blalock, etc.) so it wasn't like Cam where he was playing with a bunch of nobodies.

I'd just put a lot of guys ahead of him IMHO.

Y'all are still getting pissed off about these lists?

I remember last year when everyone on here was freaking out because there was a list that didn't have BK as a top 5 head coach hahaha
