Ole Miss beat Bama and was a fumble-strip recovery at the goal-line from being undefeated.

Did them getting vastly outplayed @LSU not happen?

However, I bet the plus for, say, beating a Minnesota or Miami doesn't change much whether they are "ranked" #20 or #30 at the moment in another poll. It's simply considered a quality win with an extra plus if away or neutral.

I wouldn't be shocked if an extra "plus" is given for beating teams like West Virginia or LSU that may have a number of losses but also have big wins against highly considered teams (Baylor, Wisconsin, Ole Miss) even if those teams aren't in the top 25 because they've lost 3 games to other top 25-ish teams.

I think this is how the basketball committee works and I bet it's where it's slightly different than usual media talking points in the past.

ideally thats how it would go down. although im not sure this is what the committee is doing as evidenced by the #25th ranked Minnesota "quality win" last week for TCU, when a win over Oklahoma wasnt considered quality (for being ranked like #28).

I truly think the committee is going #1-25 (quality wins) and ranked #26+ (not quality) ...which is

What changed? How about TCU struggling to beat a Kansas team that Baylor crushed two weeks ago...

Bama should be #1.

If we punish TCU for sleep walking against Kansas, do we punish Bama for squeaking out a win vs Arkansas a few weeks ago?

I doubt the "punishment" for any win whatsoever will be too severe.

However, there is a difference between Kansas and Arkansas in that one has been extremely competitive every game of the season and not just at home against Alabama (away against Miss St etc ect) while the other has usually just been drubbed.

I would say that TCU's main problem is that their margin of error is so small in maintaining a lead over Baylor (or Ohio State) that it doesn't help that Baylor rolled Kansas by 40+ points.

FSU had 3 wins against Clemson, FSU, Louisville when they were ranked. Unfortunately those 3 are no longer top 25

There's no way you're serious are you???

Alabama going into Tiger Stadium and then beating #1 the next week isn't enough for some people?

I know the LSU win isn't as impressive as it is in some years but beating Mississippi State the next week should firmly put Alabama over TCU man..

I posted this in another thread but I'll leave it here as well. Rankings at the beginning of the year are a crap shoot... So I was curious to see how teams stacked up after the first 6 weeks were in the books.

Wins vs Ranked Teams (when game was played) Week 7 [Oct 11] to present:

Ws...............(Best Win and Date)

3 - Alabama (#1 Moo State Nov15)
3 - TCU (#7 K State Nov8)

2 - Baylor (#9 TCU Oct11)
2 - Florida State (#5 ND Oct18)
2 - Ohio State (@ #8 Michigan St Nov8)
2 - Oregon (@ #17 Utah Nov8)

1 - Mississipi State (#2 Auburn Oct11)

ETA:

What does it all mean? Who knows.

I just thought it was interesting.

Note that
-- Only 2 teams had their "best recent win" on the road.
-- Oregon and Ohio State notched both their ranked wins on the road. Oregon vs #17 & #18, Ohio state vs #8 & #25
-- TCU, Baylor and Florida State notched a ranked win on the road in 4 quarters of play. Alabama needed OT in their ranked road win.

TCU needs to be ahead of MS St. Not only are they most likely a better team, Ms. St as of now won't even win their division, let alone conference.

I mean, Oregon has a better resume than Alabama.

So do several other teams if you look at it by ranked wins and losses.

With MState's remaining schedule and the situation in the SEC East I think pandora's box has opened up for 2 SEC teams and the Big12/10 being left out.

I can't say I necessarily disagree with it. I don't like it, obviously, but I'm not going to say that if MState bucks down Ole Miss that they're not one of the top 4.

I think if they played next week Miss St would win by two TDs

All depends on how much weight, if any, is truly put into winning your conference.

The home page of the playoff website states they will factor it in

If you are to believe that, then do OSU/TCU/Baylor pass Ms. State based solely off of that? Is that fair? Do TCU/Baylor splitting the Big 12 potentially hurt both or neither?

When some of you start realizing there is a difference between beating the #1 team and beating the #25 team, you can become CFB fans. Until then, GTFO.
