Yea I'll take a team that can pound the rock and control the clock wearing out a defense up front with the best offensive tackle combination they will see all year. Campbell is going to hurt someone. It will be bad.
If if were in Monroe it would be a blowout for sure.

Does STM have the size and athletes to match up with Neville?
Posted on 9/25/19 at 7:30 am to Riolobo
STM definitely has the athletic advantage on both sides of the ball. although outsized, theyve got so many play makers on both sides of the ball. that will be the difference, via interceptions, blocked punts and other big plays like that. STM wins in a shootout.

Ok, my turn to play the guessing game. Former player/student of a school that Neville has beaten so many times in a row that there isn't even a point of keeping count anymore or a WM grad from the pre-Shows era that is still butt hurt over the beatings Neville gave them.

great high school matchup this week : STM vs Neville
They're highschool kids, they could probably physically play another game on the following Tuesday if they really wanted to.
ETA: Getting old sucks.
and FWIW what I always find comical is how people that have never seen both teams play can formulate such grandiose opines

well how did Ouachita Parish Lions score 35 on Neville and only lose by 3 points? they are not a highly ranked team at all. I watched them run the ball right down the field on one drive.

Ouachita has some serious athletes and a new receiver who, if he continues to show out like he has the last two weeks, will be a big big time prospect next season. He is about 6'5" 205 and he is about damn near unguardable. Then there is Jacobs who is a big slot guy, along with a very athletic tight end around 6'4" 230.
Their running back Lewis is the fastest running back in Louisiana. Their back up is a big bruiser who has speed too around 6'2" 210.
Ouachita has no size and they are working around that problem with great play designs and using their athletes to keep people out of the box.
I guarantee STM doesn't have the athletes Ouachita has outside and at running back. Plus Ouachita quarterback is very good. Ouachita has no defense whatsoever on the LOS.

they actually do. they have a junior receiver who has already received an offer to ULL-Lafayette. they have plenty of athletes. thats why they are 3-0. Theyve beaten two 5A teams. If Oauchita has so much talent, why do they have two losses already this year?

I think they got beat by a solid Airline team and obviously Neville, which was a very close game. I think Ouachita is going to make some noise in their district.

I’ve been at all 3 STM games this year and watched Neville’s 3 games. I don’t think Neville can stop Holstein and the offense. Plus stm gets injured Luke Howard back this week. On the flip side, stm will have trouble stopping Neville’s run game. STM’s coaches know they won’t have as many offensive snaps as they’re used to so they know they have to score every time they have the ball.
I don’t think it’s a blowout either way, but I think STM will pull off the win.

Is this the same 187 who said Ouachita was gonna be Grace King bad???

For one it’s a rivalry game and is always close no matter where it’s played or who has the most talent. The coaching staffs are all good friends and are intimately familiar with each other’s schemes, personnel, and tendencies. After Neville jumped out to a 10 point lead rather quickly they abandoned their traditional offense and put their best player at QB and ran their version of wildcat. Their RB ran for around 1500 yards last year and is very good. STM doesn’t have anyone in their gaggle of 5’5 150 lb rb’s that compares to the Lewis kid. At the end of that game Neville had 2 2nd string corners in the game which is when OPHS started having success through the air. I’ve watched the STM jam, the barbe and plaquemine games. Ouachita has more talent and is more physical than all of those teams, they’re just young. Plaquemine is so shitty with their new offense they got destroyed by Ferriday. That and their offense and special teams spotted STM 16 points in the first quarter. Barbe’s QB is so bad he was missing wide open receivers in the flat and was spiking wr screens and swing passes in to the ground. Barbe’s NT is about 190 lbs and never leaves the field. They are hot garbage defensively and STM still had trouble running on them. Neville has 4 DT’s over 260 lbs one of which has multiple D1 offers. Neville’s RB has multiple offers and would be the best corner in North LA if we played him there. His backup will be an SEC level recruit by the time graduates. We have a corner committed to Grambling. Our QB has offers despite this being his first year as a starter. Our LT will be able to choose whatever school he wants to attend. Our WR #19 is already committed to ULL for baseball as a sophomore.
#7 for STM is indeed a very good receiver and STM executes their offense very well but they’ve been playing teams that they matchup with at the LOS and that run similar offenses. Neville beat 2 5A teams as well and gave WM hell in the jamboree. Holy Cross, I believe, has 4A enrollment but plays up because of tradition. They have to put all their freshmen (over 20) on varsity to fill a roster. OPHS as young as they are doesn’t even have to do that.

well Ouachita Parish's running back was less than 150lbs and I watched him running quite well against Neville. I watched him have several nice runs right through the middle of their defense.
And as for Neville's quarterback, I believe he threw 3 ints. in the first half. He looked terrible.

Except he’s bigger, faster, and shiftier than any RB on STM’s roster and has played at a high level for them since he was a sophomore. STM doesn’t have anyone that compares and isn’t gonna switch to the wildcat mid game. If they want to run from the QB position they’ll just bring in Howard.

well, we will see who's wrong after friday night.
i'm predicting a good battle, a close game.
you're predicting a blowout by Neville.
Posted on 9/25/19 at 7:44 pm to selfgen
Nowhere have I predicted a blowout. I expect a close game with Neville taking control in the 4th quarter due to lack of DL depth for STM.

Former LSU LBer Toby Caston lived in a garage apartment at wealthy Tulane alum Bob Cudd's house with the quid pro quo that he go to Tulane. Cudd was super pissed when he signed with LSU.

i was confusing the Ruston game with the Ouachita Parish game. the Ruston game is where Brister threw several interceptions.
