Not even the best AP team to never win. 88 Bunkie was was tGoat.
Now, put P Lavalais and Trev Fulton on either of those teams and it would have been criminal. That 99 Catskin was legit.

Sorry, I'm not allowed back at sonic on Hwy 1. I'll meet you at the Y Not tho. You can buy the biscuits after we have fisticuffs.

and that was a horrible first round draw for an undefeated Rummel team.
How did they draw teams back then, I forgot... Did they have seeds...?
I was at that game, my junior year... That team was awesome and expected to win it all...

That was 2002. St Aug beat Evangel in 2001
Nope. 2001 Evangel beat WM 34-27 on a back of the end zone pass to Thomas Bachman with 90 seconds left to play. 2000 is when Evangel didn’t make it to the Dome. WM beat St Aug in the semifinals at Tad Gormley that year. That was the only year that Evangel was in 5A and didn’t make it to the Dome.

WM gave up 14 points the entire playoffs. 7 vs Ouachita, 7 in the Dome vs Shaw. Shut out Warren Easton, Barbe, and an absolutely loaded St Aug team.

I'm pretty sure the 1998 Airline team went 10-0 regular season and lost in the opening round of the playoffs.
Keeping with the Airline sentiments of this post but switching sports, Airline went 30-0 in baseball I think Todd Walker's final year and lost in the championship game. Airline reached state championship game in 1989, too and didn't win either.

Yes, lost 18-4 to St Amant (Jason Williams)

It is the best team I have ever seen

I can’t remember what Airline did in 98. 97 they lost to WM in the first round 60-0. Prior to that night, we always played them in a scrimmage before the season. Cordial staffs and we would all eat together afterwards. After that night, Airline’s Coach swore he’d never play WM again.

And that was without Shows, who was tossed in the first quarter. WM OL came to the sideline with teeth marks in his leg. Shows tried to show the refs, they didn’t care. He went nuts and was tossed. WM only won that game 17-0. St Aug was stupid loaded that year.

Airline has historically had a really strong baseball program that is an absolute choke artist in the playoffs. My junior year was one of those years we were really good and lost in the second round. Finished the regular season as the two-seed (if we'd have won our last game against Tioga we'd have been one-seed heading into playoffs). Pulled Grace King opening round and ten runned em then got Zachary in the second and some whacky shite went down in the last inning. Lost the game 2-1.

Coach Greene, family friend of ours, played for him a couple years. Really good person, very funny. One year, mid-2000's, I think 2004, Airline played WM twice (WM was in our district) lost in the regular season matchup I think like 10-7 or something like that and then got beat by em at home 12-10 in the quarterfinals. Kicker missed two field goals in each game that would've either tied or put Airline ahead.
Think a couple years before that, Airline pulled Hahnville in the 2nd Round of the playoffs and Laron Landry pretty much single handedly beat Airline.
Eta: Just looked it up, in both games vs WM that year, the games were decided by five points total.

That Ouachita team with Jamie Spencer was pretty stout.

One of the best games I've ever seen. The Ouachita fans left when it was like 33-9 down going into the 4th. And literally Hahnvilke had to hang on for dear life I recall Spencer literally dragging the smaller players on his back every run. O got the ball back with about 1.5 min left and going for the win. First play an Int that killed it though.
