If there had been no defender and the ball had popped out on the ground, there's no chance they would have given him the catch

Of course not, because he wouldn't have completed the process.

There simply was no way for him to have completed it prior to the ball coming out.

There's simply no way to say that with any certainty when there actually was a defender, and he ripped it out after Cooks was already on the ground.

Now these refs are doing dumb shite for the SF-SEA game

I can’t believe they gave SEA that time out as the ball was being snapped. SF had made that 1st down. Shannahan is losing his fricking mind on the sidelines lol

Irrelevant, the refs ignored an obvious hold by Buffalo in the endzone earlier in that drive that would have ended the game. The announcers even commented on it.

Was it rigged or just the same old bad reffing? Can't say Buffalo was screwed by refs after Denver was already screwed out of the win by the same refs.

I think it's very easy to say he hadn't yet survived the ground just because he touched it for a split second.

I remember a play like this when LSU played at Texas in 2019 - ended up just calling it incomplete, which is what I think should have happened here. Split the difference if it’s not definitive.

I’m ok with how it was called, the ball was in both possessions as they went to the ground and defender had control immediately after hitting ground.

Of course Josh Allen leg humpers will say orherwise.

Tie goes to WR and the WR was down before the ball even began to move towards the defender. The NFL consistently cannot define what is and isnt a catch and didnt even bother to review this season defining play. The refs consistently suck for some reason and always seem to insert themselves at the worst time.

You have to survive the ground. If the ball had bounced up and then landed in the ground nobody would be saying it was complete.

He lost it when he hit the ground. It just happened to be in the hands if the defender when that happened.

hat either has to be a catch and down by contact or just an incomplete. How can it be an interception when he is laying on the ground with the ball and the defensive back takes it away after he would be down on any other play? Makes no sense

How could it be incomplete if the ball never touches the ground?

One thing is for sure, it’s either complete or an interception.

If everything happens exactly the same but the DB doesn’t possess the ball it’s ruled incomplete 99% of the time. Therefore it’s a pick, imo. Should it be is a completely different argument.

The ground didnt "cause" anything though, he was down and being touched by a defender which should mean dead play. Theres a picture somewhere where he has his left knee down and clearly has the ball in his chest. Should be dead play right there. ^^its actually right above this now

Cause isn’t relevant. You have to complete the catch and completing the catch means you control the ball through the ground and maintain that control.

That didn’t happen. Him hitting the ground and losing it tot he defender was all a simultaneous act.

I hate Denver. But that was not a catch.

Are you guys just Payton haters? Broncos DB had his arm under the ball the entire time.

Yep, maybe, it could've gone either way

I'm glad it went the Broncos way.
