Chicago should sue the NFL now for using their name in a product that is no longer associated in their city.

Not any different than the NY Giants/Jets, Washington Commanders (though this is changing), San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, etc

Never guessed NFL Stadium realignment would be a thing.

Isnt the new Browns stadium going to be as far away from downtown Cleveland as this Indiana stadium is from Chicago?

Or it'll be better like the Braves games are now?

I think it'll be better. Wolf Lake literally straddles the state border. It's no further from Soldier Field than the Arlington Heights site would be.

You can't really blame the Bears here. Why keep waiting for the girl next door to pay attention to you when another chick down the street actually wants you?

Wolf Lake site is less than 5 miles from the border with Illinois and within easy walking distance of a commuter train line that runs from Chicago to South Bend. The Bears fans will be ok.

I'd think the idea of a city trying to copyright its name or threatening litigation for using a city's name is ridiculous, but there is a precedent with Chicago and the band of the same name.

Chicago Transit Authority becomes Chicago

I guess if you’re an NFL team 30 miles from a state line - be careful.

Mike Brown would 100% move the Bengals across the river to Kentucky if they built him a new stadium.

Isn't Hammond Indiana the place where "A Christmas Story" was supposed to take place? The dad was a bears fan if I remember.

I realize it's two separate markets separated by nearly 200 miles, but you have to wonder what the Colts think of this when it comes to inducements from the State of Indiana.

There's only so much money...

A tremendous amount if bears fans live in the loop and have no cars. This should be interesting

This is just to put pressure on chicago, they ain't moving

The Bears want to own all the land around the stadium and develop it as an entertainment district to make money from bars/restaurants, office parks, parking, etc. That’s not feasible in the city limits of Chicago.

It was feasible land-wise in Arlington Heights, but the McCaskeys would have to put up a lot more of their own money, based on Pritzker’s philosophy on public funding for stadiums overall, plus difficulties working with Chicago lawmakers in Springfield who’d be pissed the team would be leaving Chicago for Arlington Heights.

Indiana government is simply more unified/willing to give the Bears what they want. Barring extreme, extreme fanbase backlash (which there will be, but probably not intense enough) they will be moving to Indiana. Admittedly, when it was first reported months ago, I thought it was only a bluff.

You're a couple of months late on this take. The Illinois state legislature already canceled a session scheduled for today to discuss the Arlington Heights site.

The state has already been dragging arse on the stadium project for two years, and they told the Bears they wouldn't be a priority again this year.

Pretty much everybody in Chicago media said from the start that Indiana was a real possibility if Illinois kept kicking the can down the road, and it now looks like a reality.

Exactly they would have stayed in Illinois and moved to the spot in Arlington they purchased. But the mayor and other politicians gave them so much crap, they figured it was easier to leave the state.

Arlington Heights

This Wolf Lake, Indiana location is actually much closer to the current Soldier Field than the proposed Arlington Heights location.

What's the main drawback for Illinois if they do move twenty miles to Indiana. They can put up all the entertainment districts they want but Chicago is still right there so I would guess most people would be staying and eating there.

Elections have consequences. The Bears got fed up with dealing with the BS politics and taxes. Can you blame them? Big difference operating in Indiana as opposed to Illinois. They got a sweetheart deal. Chicago farted around for years, and this was the result.
