He also plays a position that is usually reserved for black players at the upper levels. It's the same reason blacks want to see Vince Young and Micheal Vick succeed or black head coaches get the job.

3. defending him in rebuttal of maybe 71,000 of SFP's 123,000 posts bashing him ?
Why does it bother so many of you if some LSU fans like the guy ?

I'm not bothered by it at all. I like the guy. If you read the whole thread, you'll see where the idea for the thread came from (a text message conversation).

I think it would be silly to suggest there aren’t fans who pull for Hester solely because he’s white.
That said, I really like Hester because he’s an affable, two-star recruit who ended up putting up big numbers for us and is now in the NFL. He maximized his limited talent, and I just love the way he runs to the sticks (or did, I don’t really follow the NFL closely so I don’t know how he’s doing for the Chargers).
to whoever brought up Rohan, while I do love Rohan, he was a pretty big recruit. I think a better analogy would be Herb Tyler. And I love Herb Tyler. Still, no one holds a candle to Kevin Mawae in my personal list of favorite Tigers.

a good comparison is matt forte
both were rated as FBs coming out, so they inevitably got the 2-star treatment

Could it be because he is a model citizen that came from a high profile university and is a christian athlete that has done well? My son likes him because I guess he's not old enough to get into a race war over an athlete. I know the stereotype is there but when can we get over all this crap and realize how lucky he is and how most of us wish we could do what he does.

Rohan Davey busted arse and NEVER got the love he deserved. He's basically a black version of Hester - even down to the "got less hype and PT because of his race".
uhhh which rohan davey are you talking about? I remember LSU fans loving the guy. Even chanting his name in the peach bowl that year to come in for Booty who was an All-SEC qb. The only thing that kept Davey off the field was injuries, he was always a fan favorite especially after his hobbled OT victory over Tennessee. His place in LSU history is probably slightly underrated though. I'll never forget his teabagging of Bama in Tuscaloosa.
as for hester the guy gets a little too much love, but also way too much hate from his detractors. Its truly an odd combination.
