Question:

Does the fact that Golden State ultimately lost in the Finals justify this decision in any type of way?

Going to laugh my arse off when Golden State still loses.

i mean, we still don't know what their full roster will look like. do they still plan on going after dirk? their defense seems like it's going to decline a little bit.

draymond's role on offense just got smaller. that's probably a good thing. i'm assuming bogut is gone. what post player do they sign?

still some questions. they are absolutely the favorites, but they're still in the harder conference. durant staying out west just basically guaranteed the cavs a spot in the finals again.

The way the KD shot down the stretch in the series against the Warriors, I just assumed that he was already playing for them.

KD is now highest paid player on GS....how does Curry and Thompson feel about that?

The Heat had issues bc they couldn't sign any bench players and had to drop major pieces bc of their cap situation.

the heat made the finals in LBJ's last year and only lost b/c SA dusted off the Game Genie and put on God mode

Once they all get on their big contracts next offseason they will never be able to sign a good role players or bench player besides vets chasing rings.

and that's a proven formula

This move is unquestionably putting him in the best position to win.

So again, if winning is the top priority, there's nothing we can say to discredit this move that would be based on any logic whatsoever.

what can the league do?

they give EVERY incentive for teams to keep their FAs

if the FAs give up a ton of money, what can the NBA do?

He gave up absolutely no money, what are you talking about? The benefit of resigning with your previous team has to do with the raises and number of years you can get. Durant is guaranteed to opt out after next year so he'd literally make exactly the same amount of money with either team under this contract before taxes.

I used to like Durant, but this has proven his weak constitution. Guy wants to talk about developing as a player as a reason to go to Golden State.

i don't think you can sign a 1-year deal and then gain the advantages of the "home team" to get the super contract options

Absolutely right. The logic behind this is sound. That won't change people's perception of him running the one of the best teams ever to ride their coattails to a ring.
