These would easily be my top targets. You need young guys who can build and grow with this roster.

Between Ollie's potential connections and Calipari's ability to recruit, I think they'd be able to bring in a legit star.

Say what you want about him, but the guy is clearly a good recruiter/salesman. Selling a kid to come to your program is no different than selling someone a house.

Take Dabo, for example, dude leaves the coaching game to go into real estate and is basically a rockstar in real estate pulling down six figures from day one because he knows how to sell. He returns to coaching and is pulling guys like CJ Spiller out of Florida, going head to head with Urban Meyer as the damn WR coach at Clemson.

If you can recruit that means you can sell, and make no mistake about it someone will need to sell a top free agent on coming to LA. Cal is as good as anyone at doing that.

These "experts" really think Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, Jay Wright, and John Calipari want to leave the perfect situations they are all currently in? Shite is laughable.

Messina and Blatt make much more sense to me. Hell, it'd surprise me if they didn't take another Cleveland retread. Kinda hope they keep that trend going.

Imo Walton would be dumb to leave. He had the best roster in the NBA at his disposal; of course he was going to look like a "good" coach. He's fool's gold if you ask me.

Please Luke Walton. Young team needs a young but playoff experienced coach who has led a somewhat "veteran-laden" team for GSW when Kerr was out. Plus he has laker ties and knows what it means to be a Laker in the glory days, how it should be.

Yes, but Luke would be smart to stay with the Warriors right now.

I could see this one if the ping pong balls fell their way and they luck into 1 or 2. The Lakers have a young, inexperienced core. They won't have many NBA egos to deal with, and he'd be looking at a core of Randle, Clarkson (probably), Russell, Ingram/Simmons, and loads of cap space.

It's crazy that I said in December like Walton would be our next coach. Didn't think it'd be this soon though

Karl has made multiple conference finals and made it the finals while having one of the best wins years ever. I can see why he keeps getting jobs. Guys like Mike Brown who never win crap, I don't know

Why would Walton go to LA right now? He can probably have a shot at a more talented roster sooner than later.

It is not hard for a team like the Lakers to gain a lot of talent really fast in one offseason.

I would like the Luke Walton hire. A hire I could potentially get excited about would be Brian Shaw or Derek Fisher. I know neither of them did very well as head coaches before but Maybe bringing them in as assistants would be better then hiring a more experienced head coach. As was said in this thread before Luke may be fools gold since he looked so good coaching the loaded Warriors roster.

Marc Stein ?@ESPNSteinLine NBA coaching scuttle: Hearing Ettore Messina will get a very legit look from the Lakers if they can't lure Luke Walton out of Golden State.

Marc Stein ?@ESPNSteinLine The Lakers already know the European coaching legend's work after Messina's stint as a Lakers assistant and now he's got Spurs appeal, too
