I’ve heard the same rumors about him retiring soon. Don’t blame him. The kids are soft and think he’s a bad coach and then the parents talk shite about him all the time. People think he’s mean but he’s mean because he’s the head man at a historic 5A baseball program and has a lot of pressure to win. Too many people talk and have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s also a lot tougher to win state because the talent isn’t as good as it use to be around here but he makes deep postseason runs every single year. It’s almost impossible for anyone to knock off the Lake Charles teams because of all the talent they have over there

I'm so tired hearing parents whine about coaches being "mean". As long as he isn't being abusive, a coach should be "mean". It gets results. The coach gets all the blame when things go bad so as far as I'm concerned, (if I were a coach) if I'm going to be blamed, you're gonna do things my way. When I was growing up, parents had no input into the team. Coach was in charge and that was accepted. And I can guarantee that the coaches were "meaner" than they are now.

Spot on. Parents and kids are just soft now. Templet is an old school coach so kids today won’t like that stuff. If any team wants to be successful then the coach is going to have to be mean and demanding so that they learn and win. That’s just how it goes. Parents are ruining high school baseball though, because little Brayden was a stud travel ball player and doesn’t play as much or isn’t the cleanup hitter or whatever, and parents think they know more than coaches. It’s the parents and when parents have that kind of attitude that they know everything, their kids are going to be the same way. It’s ridiculous and I hate it because it’s going to screw good coaches. It screwed Lemons, who won 4 state titles, and made St. Amant relevant in baseball, and now they’re about to get rid of a coach who has made it past the 1st round every year except twice. He currently has a 15-11 postseason record as a head coach, including first round wins 5 times on the road. Made it to the third round 4 times, and the semis one time and that one time they lost 2-0 to arguably the best high school baseball team ever assembled in the state of Louisiana, Barbe in 2014.

First year in 2012, lost to Denham by one run and we were a lower seed. 2013, beat Dutchtown on the road in the first round, beat 2 seeded Destrehan in the second round, and lost to the eventual state runner ups Zachary in the third round. 2014, was his best team, beat Fontainebleau first round, went 2-0 against Shaw in the second round, went 2-0 against an Austin Bain Dutchtown team in the third round, and then lost 2-0 to Barbe in the semis. 2015, got beat out in the first round. 2016, went all the way to Sam Houston and beat them, then played Brother Martin in the second round, lost game 1 and came back and won the series 2-1. Then they got beat 2-0 by Barbe in the third round. 2017, went all the way to Ruston and beat them in the first round, and then went 0-2 against Sam Houston and lost. 2018, won at Destrehan, and beat Landon Mareceaux, then got lucky and got HL Bourgeois in the second round and went 2-0 against them, then lost in the third round to Sulphur and went 0-2 in that series. Then this year, go to 7 seeded Lafayette and beat them and I really think they have a really good chance to beat Destrehan. Don’t think Destrehan is as good as the other teams they have had.

Sorry to rant but it just pisses me off as an alum and someone who is still close to the program to see and hear bad things being talked about our head coach who is a really good baseball coach. Same shite is starting to happen with football, people are starting to talk bad about our head football coach who took over a program that was going 0-10 every year and turned it around and now we’re hosting playoff games and making runs in the playoffs in football now. People around here are just stupid and political

Ascension schools just don’t like seeing their program trending one direction and their rivals trending up. From what I’ve read, there’s a lot of heat stirred up by EA having some new coaches that have turned those programs around. Football def had good season, and is coming back loaded. Baseball has new coach that split with STA last season but swept them handily this season as did Dutchtown. Dutchtown split regular season but got taken out of playoffs for their 4 loss in last 5 to EA. Seems as though there’s a checking of the guard going on and people are panicking.

It happens and I’m not surprised EA is trending up. Dutchtown really took a fall in all sports these last few years but it looks like they are starting to trend up again. I think the area is just starting to get better again and I think the competition will just get better in the area with AP being a very attractive place to live being between BR and NOLA and not having all the shite that you get if you live in BR or NOLA. The area is growing and more and more kids are going to schools here. Dutchtown is the biggest school in Louisiana, St Amant has over 2,000 kids, and EA has like 1700-1800 kids I believe.

Athletics is just going to get better in this area and you can’t just force coaches to retire just because they had a bad year against district rivals. We’ve owned Dutchtown and EA the last 5 years and we make deeper runs than both of those schools every single year. People have wanted Templet gone for a long time now. This has been something that the boosters and parents have been trying to do for a long time and will look for any excuse or little mistake he makes in order to get rid of him.

Since they ran off a coach that guided them to 4 state titles, they will always be known for what you typed up. It may be a long time before they get another Bob Lemons

Note from the softball playoffs. Calvin and Plainview play for the Class C title tomorrow. Neither has allowed a run through the playoffs.
