Best I could tell is they called a headbutt on Billy and the other guy couldn’t continue. It didn’t look intentional and horrible way to end his senior year.

Yea that sucks. My oldest son has wrestled against Billy's younger brother for several years so we know the family. Definitely a crappy way to go out

Always thought it was nuts that it was in Bossier, but they get the arena for free... 90% of the teams in state run along the I-10 corridor..

Give me a break! Cry me a river with this SLA is too good to drive north. For once South La has to make a drive to compete in a state title. I have to drive to SLA 3 times a year min. Because SLA has a monopoly on football, baseball/softball, and track. Heaven forbid these sports are not played in NOLA, BR, or Lake Charles. But, I forgot, we aren’t “Louisiana” to y’all.

Think it has more to do with the fact that wrestling is significantly bigger in S. LA than north.

Is anyone from TD at the tournament? Want to see what happened in the 215 D1 final. Looked like Edmonston got DQ'd in the 3rd but the Flo Wrestling camera sucks and I couldn't tell what exactly happened.

Kid from Live Oak head butted the St Paul’s kid and concussed him and he couldn’t return. Funny part was, LiveOak kid was winning, the look on his face when he realized he lost said a lot.

Do they still have the Bayou Classic tournament?

Battle of the Bayou?

Yes, it’s put on by Delta Wrestling club, Belle Chase HS, in Plaquemines Parish. Next to Club State, it’s one of the bigger, better run tournaments.

It’s Saturday March 21st…

There quite a few Alabama wrestlers there…

Bit dramatic huh?

I’m pretty sure most kids would rather play their state championship game in the Dome as apposed to Independence stadium…

Beside’s N DeSoto, I only saw a hand full of kids from Byrd and Evangel HS… Hell, WM dioesnt even have a wrestling team.

Anyway, The Brooshire Arena sucks, there’s no free Wi-Fi and the cellular reception is terrible, and don’t get me started on the food prices. My daughter got chicken tenders, fries and a drink, it was $33. A 20oz drink was $9
It does have free parking, I’ll give them that.

Seems like Lafayette would be a great central location for this type of thing.

Brookshire is a nice small arena but having no wifi or cellular for 5-6 hours a few weeks ago was brutal.

It was called an intentional head butt. Pretty much zero chance Edmonson did it intentionally. He was up 6-2 and time was almost up. I was also told the St. Paul’s wrestler was not just concussed but unconscious.

I feel bad for everyone. Billy got Dq’d in his last match possibly ever. He lost state and his perfect senior record.

The St. Paul’s kid was wrestling well and holding his own but baring something crazy wasn’t going to win. He didn’t want to win this way and can’t feel good about the way it went down.

Edmonston is the TRUE STATE CHAMPION @215 LBS. That other kid was outmatched and out wrestled again by Edmonston. Edmonston Winning 6-2 with 43 secs left. That other kid never could take Billy down even in the Louisiana Classic. The only way that kid Martinez could win was playing hurt to get win. Shame on St Paul's coaches and shame on Live Oaks coach for not standing up and fighting for the right call. Billy was robbed of a State championship! Kid did nothing wrong but wrestle his heart and soul out every match all year. If that kid was knocked unconscious don't you think they would have brought him to the hospital for observations ? And not allowing him to get on the podium to accept an undeserved award? Just an observation. Im calling BS. Those coaches knew there was no way for him to win but to stay on mat and get cheap win. An undeserved State championship will be forever tainted knowing you really didn't win.

Sweet Thanks. Some of our wrestling friends from Mobile told us about it. We haven’t traveled out of state except for Florida and Georgia.

It’s held in a multi purpose facility with little seating, highly recommended bringing chairs.

They do have some of the best concessions and event t-shirts. They also have custom medals, not the rinky dink regular bs medals, and the first place winners get a champion singlet…

That same ref had some weird shite with injury calls all weekend. STM 190 had a Prairieville kid in the air for a mat return. Dude blows the whistle and hits the STM kid with a caution. STM coaches asked for clarification & he says "I was worried your wrestler would hurt him."
