It was a down year for defense in the SEC.

Wasn't he actually Co-DPOY with CJ Mosley, a first round draft pick?

Really?

You really some guys out there think every single player drafted ahead of then we're better and going to be a better pro? I say zero chance.

I'm pretty sure Manziel said before the draft that the teams that didn't draft him would be sorry.

So he's not even the only player in this draft to publicly say they should be drafted higher.

Not to mention, at no point did he make that about his sexual orientation. It was the writer that made it a story.

Why shouldn't he be honest? It hurts not him or his new team to answer that question honestly.

how do you not realize his combine numbers were embarrassing?
I do, but how is that relevant to what I said? I never said I think he should have been drafted higher, so his combine numbers are irrelevant

Manziel was a projected top 10 pick. Sam was a projected 6th round pick at best. He only got picked up for the publicity and PR stunt, not his talent. All I'm saying is show a little humility.

Yup! I bet you Clowney didn't think he should have been drafted higher!

Analysis

Strengths Good arm length. Anticipates the snap and has a very good initial first step. Plays hard -- gives great effort and competes every down. Good on-field intensity and demeanor. Attacks the edges aggressively and motor runs hot. Outstanding weight-room strength -- can squat a small house. Very durable.

Weaknesses Lacks burst and acceleration off the edge to get a step on blockers and finish. Sack production results from effort and production flushed to him and is not creatively produced with savvy pass-rush moves, speed, power or bend. Average hip flexibility and snap -- struggles clearing his hips at the top of his rush and trimming the corner. Adequate anchor vs. the run. Is late to disengage from blocks. Does not strike with authority. Inconsistent tackler. Late bloomer who could require time to adapt to the pro game.

Bottom Line A productive, 4-3 weakside rusher who came on as a senior and it made his last season his best. Could fit most ideally as a 3-4 outside linebacker in a zone-blitzing scheme like the Steelers or Ravens. Compares favorably to Chargers 2009 first-round pick Larry English, an overhyped, overdrafted, marginal producer in the pros.

Yeah, he slipped because of his sexual orientation.

Not many 7th round picks out there comparing themselves to the number 1 overall pick.

This number one pick isn't a lackluster #1 pick either. Clowney is a physical freak and some scouts have him pegged as the best player at his position to enter the draft in over a decade.

and I didn't see anyone take issue, except for with Sam, wonder why that is?

He doesn't seem to be saying the right things at this point. Guessing he's just preparing for life after football which won't last past August.

dude needs to get over his self. Tebow was one of the greatest college QBs of all time and sucked in the NFL. Same thing with Eric Crouch. Sometimes college success doesn't transition to the NFL and the fact that he looked terrible as a 3-4 OLB and too small for a 4-3 or 3-4 DE was an easy decision for NFL teams

Yeah, because he was obviously comparing himself in ability, not just saying that he felt like he had been taken #1 overall.

Do people just not read and make up their own stories?
