BREAKING: Star third baseman Rafael Devers and the Boston Red Sox are finalizing an 11-year, $331 million contract, sources familiar with the agreement tell ESPN.
The deal is not done. The physical process hasn't started. But in the end, Devers is expected to remain in Boston.

If the deal is finished, it would be the richest contract in Red Sox history by $114M.
The reported $331M deal is the largest for a 3B in MLB history. It would be the 4th $300M contract signed this offseason, the most in a single offseason in MLB history.
What a huge fricking relief.

Rafael Devers $331M for 11 year deal agreed to with Red Sox. $20M bonus. No no trade.

Just to clarify: The 11 years and $331 million for Devers *includes* his 2023 salary. The deal will run through 2033. No opt outs in the deal.
What a great contract for Boston. I almost can't believe Chaim pulled it off.

This offseason, Lewin Díaz has played for the …

Braves
Still six or so weeks left before spring training.

Just a day after the #Orioles trade for 1B Ryan O'Hearn from the #Royals, they now designate him for assignment after claiming infielder Lewin Diaz from Atlanta.

Good for the Red Sox for extending Devers. With Betts and Bogaerts not signing with them and going elsewhere, they couldn't let Devers go too.

Dodgers have to decide today whether to reinstate Trevor Bauer to their 40-man. Expectation for weeks has been they would let him go but there are a lot of factors to weigh.

Dodgers have been VERY quiet this offseason and the signings they did make very underwhelming - especially by their recent past standards.

I’m sure they’ll be active in the trade market this season. They have a deep system.

At this point who do you think they are going to trade for?

Saving for Ohtani.
Trade and extend or just sign next offseason.

Mets will be going hard after Ohtani as well next offseason.

I'm sure, but I feel like it's the obvious play for the Dodgers based on this offseason.

For sure, but our GM is the one who brought him to the Angels so I like where we are sitting right now, but it will definitely be a fight with the Dodgers and the numbers are going to be ridiculous. Payroll drops down quite a bit after this season as well, we finally get rid of Cano's $24 million a year

That might get you halfway to Ohtani's future AAV.

Oh I know, i was just happy to type that we will finally be done with Cano
We still have to sign Alonso but I think as of right now our 2024 payroll is sub $200m (in guaranteed dollars, not including options and arbitration)....depending on what happens with Correa
