Which is why I stated that I hope all the MLB parks have the clock closer to the dugouts.

Not really. I already watch fewer NHL games with all the distracting board ads that constantly change.

I hope that whatever comes next isn't a bigger shitshow than what we're dealing with now
whatever comes next will allow organizations like the pirates to leach off organizations like the dodgers to an even higher degree that they already do

For those concerned that the pitch clock is so prominent in the background of at-bats during spring-training games: The plan in big league ballparks is for it to be out of view of the center-field camera. In other words: TV viewers will not see the physical clock during pitches.

They will either build it in as part of the scoreboard graphic on screen or have it similar to the shot clock in basketball is my guess. NESN (Red Sox) already has it in the scoreboard graphic during the spring training game today.

Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering how all the TV networks wound implement it. I'd rather not have it on the scorebar, but I guess I can live with it.

BREAKING: Star third baseman Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres are finalizing an 11-year, $350 million contract extension, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Machado helped turn around the franchise. He'll stay as the ascendant Padres seek their first championship.

Manny Machado's path is wild. His market during free agency was grim until the Padres stepped in. He made $150M from that deal and will get another $350M. A genuine half-billion-dollar player. And the $350 million is a Trout- and Betts-sized number -- fourth-biggest deal ever.

Machado’s extension includes a full no-trade clause and no opt outs, per source.

He smoked it 430 feet off Cueto. I'm looking forward to seeing Winn too.

Padre's doling out a lot of double-digit year contracts and most of them to guys in their 30's, in other words to guys who are at the end of or past their prime.

And the one young guy Tatis Junior had been a headache for them since they inked him to that long term deal.

It seems like none of these teams who spend money like this ever win the World Series.

All of those padre deals are terrible

They will be fire selling while paying for 90% of those contracts.

They don't have the pitching to do a marlins, buy u a title or 2. Plan.
