Restricted FA Gordon Hayward has been contacted by Celtics GM Danny Ainge and coach Brad Stevens, according to the Boston Globe.
The Suns are also making a hard push to sign Hayward to an offer sheet, but it may prove futile since the Jazz are expected to match almost any offer for their 24-year-old SG.

I saw some people mock Bill Simmons for saying Hayward was getting a near max deal..... well it is happening.

That's crazy IMO. I'd give Parsons a max before Hayward, but I don't think Parsons is getting a max.

I could see giving Bledsoe a max, though.

Is that roughly the same 5/90 type max deal that Irving got that Hayward would get?

Don't think so. I don't think Hayward is elgible for that.

No, he's probably only eligible for a deal around 15m per year. Irving got that deal because he started an All Star game, I believe. Some "Rose" provision, or something.

Watching the NBA still blatantly overpay players a couple years after locking out the players because they needed to put kid gloves and contract safeguards on themselves because they are so dumb makes me happy

Yup. He can get a deal similar to what Eric Gordon got, but not what Kyrie got.

I know. I'd give Parsons a 4 year 60mil contract before I'd give it to Hayward. Maybe I'm alone in that thinking, though.

Update 3:50 p.m.:

• ESPN reports that the Heat are telling teams it has $12 million in available cap space, indicating that both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are taking huge paycuts to improve the team. The Oregonian reports Wade's salary will start at $12 million, while Bosh's will begin at just $11 million, a nearly $10 million paycut over what he could make in a max offer. ESPN confirms that report.

• Yahoo Sports reports that the Bucks are going to be 'conservative' with their $12 million in cap space. Because, you know, after you've gone out and gotten someone else's coach after a failed power play and then hired him before letting your coach and GM know, and after a year in which you were the worst team in basketball, you really want to throttle down.

• The Lakers want to keep in contact with Jordan Hill and Pau Gasol according to the Sporting News, and are asking them to be patient as they pursue other free agents. And hey, after all the success they've had the last two years, the Lakers should clearly try and continue that. Wait.

@WojYahooNBA
After Toronto/Houston visits, Lowry huddling w/ agent Andy Miller. Heat, Lakers want meetings. Holding pattern, mulling Raps/Rockets offers.

I wonder who said this? Melo?
