No ones being obtuse. It’s 2 different leagues. They didn’t play each other.
Is it? Lol. What a dumb take

It’s easy to see with what we know about the races now the negro league was possibly better, or at least as good as the white league, thus making white only records look hollow.

And speaking of merger, even though the NBA absorbed the ABA, they don’t count their stats.
This will probably change soon

My only issue is that there were like 7 different iterations of a Negro League and some of them were not up to standard when it came to organization and stat keeping
I guess you can include them all, but it's just like including stats of barn storming semi pro teams who traveled from town to town with the 1926 Yankees

If baseball was the number 1 sport in America for black people, you don’t think they would also have the majority of pro players? Why not?
They do so in both football and basketball

Lol. Wtf does this have to do with merging stats from 2 different leagues?

I personally think calling them MLB Stats doesn’t make sense, but I understand why they are trying to merge them in some way
If you truly want to know who the best of all time are, just not including them at all is dumb as well

And THAT was the only point I was trying to make. But you wanted to go down some different road

The Negro Leagues had 6 or 7 incarnations and the stats and record keeping were sub par at best, not to mention there was no merger.
Ken Burns Baseball discusses some of this....despite being very flattering to the Negro Leagues and Gibson and Satchel (rightfully so), there was some folklore hinted at...it's honestly fair to question the stats because the League was doing everything in its power to promote itself competing against MLB for $.

Wasn't part of the problem that the Negro Leagues didn't keep very good records and stats? A lot of barnstorming and word of mouth stuff.
I mean if the record books say Babe Ruth went 2-5 against the Red Sox with a HR and 3 RBIs on June 2, 1929 you can bet that's what happened.
That time my grandpa told me about Josh Gibson going 7-7 with an 800 ft HR against the traveling Mississippi Association of Chicken Farmers? Hmmm....
I suspect this all kicked off during all of the other recent insanity and it has taken them years to try to come up with some agreeable numbers.

Hopefully they are able to find some way to read between the lines and throw out the bullshite but keep the legitimate cause I do believe these players should have a place in the record books
The leagues from the early 20th century? Probably not
But the leagues that came up in the 30s and lasted into the 50s? I'm willing to bet those are fine

This.. those leagues weren’t very well organized… in all aspects, quality of play, fan experience, record keeping…

I mean, the MLB at the time was really just the Caucasian League and those stats count….
I mean …they’re still two different leagues. Why don’t we use every league worldwide and minor league stats and just integrate all of them? It’s an MLB record book, not a baseball record book. Integrating a separate league’s stats into MLB stats is illogical

There are a lot of negro league players in the HOF. That to me is how to know who the best players of all time were/are

Ridiculous.
I’m sure the competition level was the same.
Or not.

The AL and NL were different leagues and didn't play each other but we count those stats.

They’re intentionally missing the point. These people worship lies
