I meant if they took on Emeka and/or Posey, which would be a starting point for any deal

not if we shed cp3s huge contract and didn't take on salary in return

you over value teh frick out of CP3

Considering he is the only reason the majority of fans go to the games, its not even close to being over valued.

Its not just about basketball worth. If you can't understand that, there is no arguing with you.

Where is this Turner at #3 speculation coming from? I haven't seen anything even remotely hinting at him not being a lock for #2.

I've been thinking of this deal for awhile ( late April actually) and I want Turner and Lopez to pair with DC and MT5.

I was praying NJ ended up second but unfortunately they got 3rd.

Now This is Chad Ford mock draft 3.0, which gave me new hope...

Analysis: "I've heard various sources make pretty forceful arguments that three different players are second on the 76ers' board: Evan Turner, DeMarcus Cousins and Derrick Favors. At times, I've been persuaded by all three. But now it looks like the Sixers are leaning toward Favors, according to what I was told on Monday by a credible source familiar with coach Doug Collins' thinking.
Turner isn't a great fit next to Andre Iguodala. And while Cousins is a perfect fit in the middle, the team has some concerns about his on-court attitude. That leaves Favors, who has as much upside as any player in the draft.
His measurements out of Chicago are virtually identical to Dwight Howard's -- which means he should be just fine playing center. All of this can change once players undergo individual workouts and interviews, but from what I can gather, Favors has the lead if the Sixers decide to keep the pick." -- Chad Ford

Remember after this year...the 76ers have NO ONE to play center. And please don't say Speights. Cause that is just laughable.

Wouldn't we still be at the cap? I'd still want to dump one of those shitty contracts.

IF we got a deal like 3, 27, Lopez for CP3 and Posey, you would have a team like:

Collison/Rookie (27: Willie Warren, Eric Bledsoe)
Thornton/MoPete/(Warren or Bledsoe)
Paul George/Peja
West/Favors/Okafor
Lopez/Okafor/Favors/Gray

That team would have a top 3 pick again...but it would have some potential in 2-3 years, especially when Peja and MoPete come off, and Okafor's contract gets more tradeable.

I still wouldn't do it at all, personally, but it would get some talent in.

I think the point of the Nets trading for CP3 is that they would want to keep Lopez and cap room.

The Hornets want to sign Lebron to the MLE and Wade to the bi-annual.

I think this is overrated now since Collison proved to be a more than capable starter. Fans will go to games if the team plays hard and is competitive. Thornton and Collison were why people watched half the games last year anyway.

DC/MT
Turner/MT
George/Peja
West/Okafor
Lopez/Okafor

Is a pretty good team that people would go watch. And I really think we'd be able to get more than #3 and Lopez out of the Nets because they'd be coming to us about the deal.

Thanks for the Chad Ford link Wiseguy, that does change things a bit.

I know many of you guys hate HR and Harvey Hornet, but he DOES know what he's talking about a lot.

And he is adamant that Chris Paul will not be a Hornet in 2 years. Like, %100 no question about it.

Im fine with that FWIW. I don't think CP3 will ever lead a team to a championship in NOLA or anywhere else

I don't know who Harvey Hornet is, but it doesn't take an expert to figure that out.

Like I said in my OP the Hornets just do not have the resources to put the proper pieces around CP3.

He will be 27-28 when his player option comes up, he's not going to sit around his whole career waiting for the FO to put players around him.

HH is a moderator/owner of HornetsReport.com. He has legit contacts with the team. He's made a number of calls early, like PJ/JR to Chicago, and Monty being the HC weeks and weeks ago.

It might be a sad but a true reality. For NOW, I would hold out for an amazing deal. Next year...you might have to take what you can get.

I still hold out hope that the Hornets can strike gold again in the draft, and then do something next year when expirings come off the books.

Well the Nets are moving to Brooklyn, have a ridiculously rich owner, Jay-Z, and a ton of cap room.

LE the hornets are a bit of a mess in the FO, NJ has much more upside right now

Insanely dumb contracts closed the window on this group.

last time I checked. You have to have 7 years of NBA services to have a no trade clause in your contract.

I wouldn't trade CP3 for Lopez and #3 if they weren't willing to take Okafor as well (MAYBE Posey). Lopez only has two years left on his deal, so like CP3, he can get the frick out of dodge if he wants. I'd let Peja expire and use that and the money saved with dealing CP3 and Okafor to keep that core together.

I'd honestly go to more games with
DC/MT/Turner/West/Lopez than I would with CP3 and the pussies he has with him right now. It might not be a legit contender now but it would be a really fun team to watch and could become a contender in a few years when the Lakers are declining right as they start peaking.

i know this

my point is, he is never "rumored" to be traded to a good team, yet everyone keeps saying he isn't "going to want to play for NO, they arent going anywhere". But he is going to "force a trade" to a team end up in worse situation.

especially if he gets traded before the draft, the Hornets would likely need a high lottery pick in return. Which, in turn, means he's going to a shitty team.

like i said, he isnt getting traded until the last year of his contract, if then. Meaning 3 seasons from now.

if CP3 thinks getting traded to NJN is going to be better than playing in New Orleans, then I don't know what to say.

so you think he would be enticed being traded to a team with a starting lineup that would look like:

cp3
courtney lee
douglas roberts
Yi
josh boone

with Devin Harris coming off the bench i guess??

lol
