they are a playoff team

either way, there are only 3-4 legit contenders annually anyway.

we're also pretty fricked longterm unless our new owner wants to deal peja/mopete for a very expensive guy like deng

they also have Collison as a trade piece. He will be gone before they think about trading Paul

Peja and MoPete aren't the big problems. They both only have 1 year left on their contracts. So they will come off the books next offseason.

Its Emeka and Posey who we need to get rid of. Emeka is terrible and still has 4 years at 13 mil/year left on his contract. Posey has 2 years at 6.75 mil/year.

So if CP3 will walk in 2 years, you gotta package Emeka and his contract with him. To the Nets for Lopez and #3(E Turner)

I think we would be in pretty good cap shape if the Nyets were willing to do the Lopez/#3 for CP/Okafor deal and we just let them expire. Actually I'm pretty sure if that happens, next season our highest paid player would be this guy (if West opts out):

I'm not so worried about those two. I think MoPete's money will be needed for resigning Thornton and Peja's money would allow you to get under the tax threshold and still go after FAs in 2011. Okafor is the guy the team needs to upgrade. If you can get a cheap young player to push him to the bench then this team can be rebuilt with just the draft and MLE.

Just pretend the Hornets actually don't blow their next 2 drafts/FA signings and get at least solid players, and that they find a way to pick up an extra 1st this year with all the front court depth. After the lockout you could have something like:

CP3/DC
Paul George/MT
Travis Outlaw(2010 MLE)/Paul George/Posey
West/Okafor
Larry Sanders/Okafor

Plus a 2011 1st rounder and 2011 MLE

A much longer, faster, younger, more athletic team, and with so much young talent the payroll is only about $65 million

This is very likely what the team looks like in August along with Peja, MoPete, Songaila, Diogu, and Gray.

If the Hornets shipped off Okafor and CP3 they would be in the upper 20s and low 30 million dollar range. That is including extending Thornton and keeping West.

The only problem is the Nets would have to be able to sign and trade for a player which still could be tough since CP3 and Okafor would eat up the rest of their cap space. It can definitely be done though considering the Celtics reshaped their whole team recently in one offseason.

I really think George and Johnson could be an athletic duo running the court with Collison. Favors would give a legit front court with Lopez and West for a long time.

People think the Hornets couldn't survive without Paul, but this deal would make the franchise much cheaper to run until they add a couple more pieces.

That's a juvenile RETARDED response. It sounds like you've been hurt emotionally

The Nets could still sign a MAX guy and trade for a guy who would make 12 million.

you have then trading for 2 All stars(CP3 n Bosh) and then signing Rudy Gay and Jermaine O'Neal.

not to mention trading off their 2 best current player, and the #3 overall draft pick in the 2010 draft in the process

im sorry, if i thought there was even a .01% chance of that happening, I wouldn't have given my retarded, juvenile response.

that would be the most impactful offseason in NBA history, mirroring something you would see in a video game(hence NBA2K10)

No one thinks Diogu can come back healthy and contribute?

Read Bill Simmons' article on their new owner. The guy has lived his entire life like he was playing NBA2K10.

I'm REALLY curious to see how he can contribute. I hope they re-sign him. Never really got any playing time in his career, then those last 4 or so games with the Kings when they finally put him out there for 30+ minutes he averaged like 25-10.

Lol. Omg it's just examples. I'm not saying that's exactly what would happen. But they would have options

And trading for TWO HOF'ers has happened before.

And if u havent noticed, there are plenty of Type A and Type B free agents this summer

From what I've read, the owners want to restructure the salary cap and max deal, so it might be best to let them expire than take on salary when you have no clue what the salary cap structure will be after the new CBA

i know its an example, but you could have at least used a realistic example.

in their prime? to the same team?

im drawing a blank

nonetheless for 2 guys with 1 AS game appearance between them, and a draft pick

He's still young and good potential. It would be really nice if he could make some contributions.

You do realize that even if NJ takes on emeka and CP3, that they can still sign a MAX contract right ?

You do realize SIGN and Trades are ALLOWED right ? Harris makes 8.5 million and Dooling has an expiring at 4 I think. But Dooling can be bought out ( or so I've read on many NJN message boards).

So there's your type A FA and Type B FA in a sign and trade.

You do also realize that the Heat could sign Bosh and Bron ? Same with CHI, but that can't happen cause you can do that in NBA 2K 10 right....?
