I’m not exactly sure why someone felt the need to discredit any team’s win streak. Eight or more in a row against any level of competition in the NHL is really good.

I’m sure the same people will excuse away a losing streak, then, against high quality teams, then? Probably not.

The Kraken had a pretty rough start because of a tough schedule and a boatload of injuries. They are (relatively) healthy again and the schedule is not as too heavy now. It’s not surprising that their record is leveling out as it should.

Val Niscuskin enters league rehab program

This sucks. Would have hoped it was addressed after the Seattle series but I guess not. He’s been incredible this year and I really feel his absence is what lost that series last year.

Busy first period. 2-1 flames up.

Matthews with a great goal for Maple Leafs

Really freaking cool move by Nathan MacKinnon giving up his own hat trick on an empty netter to LOC.

The Avalanche really need to figure out the G situation with Georgiev struggling.

Yeah he had that nice run of a few games but it's been 3/4/5 goals every time since then. Not good. I still feel the defense makes terrible mistakes that give up quality scoring chances. But every game starts out with a sub .900 (or even .800) save percentage. It's like he has to give up 2-3 goals in order to get a groove going. Makes no sense.

Avalanche are like LSU football this year - have to outscore every opponent.

Bednar needs to rest him more for a reset - you can't say at this point that Annunen or Prosvetov wouldn't give up any more goals.

3-2 on the road trip not bad considering.
Tough February with another huge east coast road trip coming up.

I don't see Winnipeg slowing down enough so it feels like a first round showdown with Dallas is looming.

Patrick Roy taking over as HC for the islanders. Seems to be an out of nowhere but solid hire.

Wasn’t his tenure in Denver (as coach, not in net haha) pretty lackluster?

He’s done ok in one of the Canadian leagues, but seems too volatile to have NHL level success IMO. Also funny that Varlamov is on their roster; that’ll be interesting since they sparred in Colorado.

He never had a losing season. But made the playoffs once.

He is/was a hothead
He took the Avs to an amazing season out of nowhere his one year and lost in the first rounds of playoffs
Seems like an odd hire for a typically defensive team with already amazing goaltending
I love Roy, unsurprisingly

Of note: Oilers have only played 41 games this year; they are on some unbelievable pace currently considering how poorly they started (on points pace with top 5-6 teams in the league). Have already knocked Kings back into the WC.
