What a match.
I’m a huge Med fan but gotta respect what Rafa just did. Still about 2 years away from this tournament becoming a Med/Sasha/Stefanos/Berrettini championship every year. I also expect Rublev to make a run to the finals eventually. Hopefully Fritz can but he’ll need upsets in his draw. Just doesn’t have the whole court game yet.

I wonder if Thiem will ever make it back. He's starting to become forgotten.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy for Nadal. He's great and deserves the praise.
I just fricking hate what Australia did (and has been doing).

I just think his game is a bit limited. He hits every ball literally as hard as he can. He has no Plan B.*
*And believe me, I know something about Plan B...if yaknow whada meeaaaaan

So, even though I'm pretty sure Novak will end up with more than 21, I am currently reveling in the reality that Smug will finish with 20.

I was on team #freedjoker, but Rafa can only play the guys in the draw.

Obviously Djokovic is king in Melbourne, but it's not like Medvedev isn't the best or second-best hardcourt player on earth and the eventual #1 player in the world this year.

They played it at the end...of course. I mean, this is what they do.

Bunk, where do you find those composite images with all the major victories? Have they made one yet for Rafa?
Here is an article with good images from each one: LINK

Interesting question: if all 21 of these Rafa's played a tournament, which one would win?
I think I might go with 2013 US Open version, but it's certainly debatable.

Ha, some Rafa fanboy will usually make that type of thing over at Talk Tennis. I'll take a look over there later today.

And that wasn't even when he was facing triple break point on his serve in the third set. It was probably more like 1 or 2 % at that point.

I really feel for Thiem.. i have the exact same wrist injury he has (google TFCC wrist injury) and though im just a tennis hack, who’s at least 15 yrs older than him, that particular injury , a lot of times, takes months to heal and in a lot of cases never feels right as long as you live, becuase there isnt a lot of blood flow to that ulnar pinky side of the wrist.. i cant imagine how difficult it must be for an elite player with a power game to play through it.. and in a lot of cases, surgery makes it worse, which is probably why Thiem elected to not have surgery.. still, the prognosis is not good .
