Is Salmen the only school of these three to not file a lawsuit or attempt to get an injunction yet? If so I'm rooting for them 100%.
St Michaels had a legitimate suit though. The LHSAA rules clearly state that a team must be given a minimum notice of 48hrs before game time if their opponent is going to change and the LHSAA office didnt meet that requirement. When StM brought that up, they were told that this was just a special circumstance to that rule.
That in itself is bullshite.

let me guess... this is over P.J. Brown's daughter?
there should be a deadline to challenge players' eligibility, something like the middle or 3/4 of the season. speak before then or forever hold the peace

FYI the State Senate is holding a subcommittee hearing today on the public/private split.

no because once a kid moves they break the rules which can occur at any time.
I disagree with the rule, but it is the rule..
If they are living outside attendance zone and not with the parent that has custody.. they are ineligible..
they need to enforce the rule, they did against vandy.

i'd rather have there be "ineligible" players than affect the integrity of the state playoffs by throwing winning teams out and putting losing teams back in

They definitely need to rethink that rule. If a kid has been at a school for a couple years and something happens with their parents, they should have the opportunity to continue at that school without forfeiting eligibility.

I agree so do many many others..... but the loop holes get abused to no end... especially with dual custody

Definitely. It would need to be very narrowly defined. But really, what needs to happen is that every case is looked at individually, though I know that will never, ever, ever happen so we just have to deal with these one-size-fits-none rules.

Posted on 3/5/13 at 9:33 am to supatigah

Posted on 3/5/13 at 9:43 am to trident

Honestly, if more schools would blow the whistle on each other it would go a long way to cleaning up the "recruiting" in the LHSAA. The only person who can request an elgibility ruling on a player (at your own school or another) is a school principal. Most principal's don't turn in another school because of the good working relationship that they have with that school already. Or sometimes principal's don't want to upset another school and have people start pointing fingers at them now.
Recruiting is the key issue in all of the brew-ha-ha back in January, but it's not just a private school issue. Recruiting is rampant at both the private and public schools in most levels of the LHSAA.

yea the difference is that private school fields a whole squad of recruited players were as public school only have 1 or 2 "recruited" players

recruiting doesn't have NEAR the impact as voluntary hold backs do...
